Gen.31v1-6: Now Jacob heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, “Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s, and from what was our father’s he has acquired all this wealth”. And Jacob saw the countenance of Laban, and indeed it was not favourable toward him as before. Then the Lord said to Jacob, “return to the land of your fathers and to your family, and I will be with you”. So Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field, to his flock, and said to them, “I see your father’s countenance, that it is not favourable toward me as before; but the God of my father has been with me. And you know that with all my might I have served your father.
Dearly Beloved, it’s possible for you to succeed at whatever you may be doing. This is God’s will and plans for you as revealed in his holy scriptures. Joseph’s life is a clear demonstration of this Grace. You can also see this kind of grace in the life of Daniel and even David just to mention just a few. By virtue of your covenant with God, the grace to flourish and prosper no matter the conditions of life is available to you. Through this series of lessons, I trust that this Grace will be made manifest fully in Jesus name, amen. So what does it mean to succeed at what you do? These are the things I will be sharing with you beginning from this lesson today by his Grace. So if you are ready, let’s start examining these principles right away.
KEYS TO SUCCEEDING AT WHAT YOU DO:
1. Be Passionate about what you are doing. To succeed at whatever, you may be doing will require that you are passionate about it. So one major question to ask yourself is if you are wired for whatever you are doing. It has been discovered that there is a connection between succeeding and your passion or calling. Stop doing things just for the sake of surviving alone, move into the realm of significance. So are you following your heart or just your head? If you really want to succeed you got to follow your heart! My dear reader, you need to be truthful with yourself. Make sure you are not a square peg in a round hole. Stay within your area of calling and gifting. These will enable you to succeed with ease (1Cor.7v20, 24). So make up your mind from today that you won’t do something that you are not passionate about because it’s one of the determining factors for success.
2. Self-Discipline. To succeed at whatever you are doing requires self-discipline. It’s not just enough to be talented but you also need to be disciplined if you are going to succeed at whatever you do. Joseph was highly disciplined, this was one of the reasons why he became successful. My dearly beloved ones, Succeeding is an illusion without self-discipline. If you really want to succeed, you must do what you need to do whether it’s convenient or not. This is part of the requirements of success. So to what extent are you disciplined? To truly become successful, you need to cultivate discipline in the following areas of your life:
– In your mind and thoughts. Someone who is not disciplined in his mind cannot become successful at what they do (Pro.23v7).
– In your Decisions and Will. Your decision determines your Destination and the Direction in which your life goes (Dan.1v8).
– In your Emotions. A man that cannot manage his emotions can certainly not manage success too (Pro.25v28).
– In your Actions and Way. How disciplined are you in your ways and action?
– In your Bodies (Col.3v5).
My dear brothers and sisters, I hope you can see why it’s important for you to develop self-discipline in whatever you do. I pray for you today that you will find the courage to be a Doer of the word in Jesus name, amen.
