1 Thessalonians 5verse21: ‘Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.’
Dear friends, there are the right questions to ask before you say I do. You need to have this understanding if you will be successful in your relationship life. The reason many have heard an unpleasant experience in their relationships with others is that they did not take the time to ask questions! But glory be to God, his light and illumination has come, so you don’t have any more reasons to walk in the dark. If you have been following this series of teachings, I have been sharing some of those questions that you need to ask yourself, and today by his grace, I will be sharing more with you! So without much ado, let’s consider them right away!
RIGHT QUESTIONS TO ASK:
16. Do we share similar goals and dreams? I.e. Do we want the same things? Do we want the same things in the long term? Do our values align? The answers that you derive from these questions will help you to know if you are truly meant for each other.
17. Does this person truly love me or do they just want to be married? If they truly love you, they will be willing to wait for you, care for you, and respect your views and opinions among several other things. So my dear reader, make sure that the love is there. Pro10v12; SOS8v7.
18. What do they do for a living? What kind of work or business do they do? Are they professionally motivated? My dear friends, you need to ask these kinds of questions because finances will be a major part of your relationship, so why shy away from asking these questions? There is dignity in work and working! So ensure that you cross all T’s and dot all I’s in this area. Pro10v4:22v29.
19. Have they been married before or do they have any children out of marriage? This line of questioning is important as it addresses the things that have taken place in the past that have to be discussed now, as part of being honest and transparent. Col3v8.
20. Where do they currently stay or live? Are they sharing an apartment with someone or living with their parents and siblings or scouting with others? Is it a rented apartment or their own? My dear friends, this is another line of questioning that must be asked so that you don’t stand the risk of not having a roof over your head after marriage. So make sure you ask these kinds of questions, as it is for your own good at the end of the day.
