Ephesians 4verse22-24: ‘V22- That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; V23-And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; V24- And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.’

Change is one of the most difficult things to achieve, but thank God for providing a way of escape. It’s possible for you to change if you are willing to follow through with the process of change! Change will not just happen like that without your cooperation. Change will happen as a result of your commitment and discipline to the process. This is what it takes to achieve change and whatever form of change that you seek can be achieved once you are willing to pay the price! Pro17v16. If you have been following this series, you will observe that I have shared some tips for making a positive change and in today’s lesson, I will shed more light on this! So, without much ado! Here we go!

Tips On How To Change Yourself:

6. Find for yourself compelling reasons for change. If you will succeed in bringing changes into your life, you must have a lot of strong reasons for such otherwise, you might not be able to achieve that change. Another way of saying this is to find out whether you have enough motivation or resolution for those changes. If you have, then you are on safe ground but if not then your chances of accomplishing them are slim. So, to succeed in the changes you want to see in life, provide for yourself strong reasons or motivation for change. Gen32v26; 1Chro4v10.

7. Form the Habits. One of the clearest part ways to change your life has to do with your habits. We are creatures of habit. So, if you want to become a better person, you need to replace your old habits with new ones. You must embrace new habits. Eph4v22-24. Every habit you have either good or bad follows a particular process and according to behavioural psychology researchers, there are three steps for habit change, which are as follows:

-Reminder (The trigger that initiates the behaviour)

-Routine (the behaviour itself; the action you take)

-Reward (the benefits you gain from doing the behaviour)

Your ability and desire to follow through this process will help you form the habits that you seek. Dan1v8. So, how passionate are you willing to embrace your new habits?

8. Your dependence on the help of God. You can’t change yourself without a supernatural encounter and assistance. This is why you need God to effect the changes you desire in your life. My dear brothers and sisters, an encounter with God will change your life forever. This happened to those who sought God in the Bible. They experienced God’s touch in their lives, leading to them becoming a better person. The same thing can happen to you if you genuinely seek God’s help and intervention. He will always help those who cannot help themselves. Whatever you seek to change about your life can become a reality as you press into God. God cannot change you without your consent, so surrender to his help and wisdom, may the changes you seek become a living reality in your life in Jesus name, amen. Ps34v6,17; Rom10v13.
