Habakkuk 3verse17-19: ‘V17- Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: V18- Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. V19- The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.’
According to the Gospel of Saint John (chapter 8verse32), It is the truth that you know that will set you free. This is very important for you to understand that it is not truth per se that sets people free but the truths that they know and apply. Because you and I know the truths but are not applying them to our lives, this is why we have not seen so many changes too. However today, my emphasis is on the truths that you need to know about recession. If you will prevail in the time of recession there are certain basic truths that you need to know about recession. I am very sure that you have heard about the word recession before but what does recession mean? Jn8v36. So, my dear friends, I think it’s important for us to understand what recession is first because you can’t take advantage of what you don’t know.
So what is Recession?
-A period of temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial activity are reduced, generally identified by a fall in Gross Domestic Product in two successive quarters.
-A period of reduced economic activity
-A period when the economy of a country is not successful and conditions for business is bad
The word recession is from the word RECESS which is a temporary withdrawal or cessation from usual work or activity.
So in general recession is a time of economic decline or downturn or a slowdown in economic activity. This is clearly the outlook in our text scripture (Habakkuk 3verse17-19). Everything is down and passive as you can see. Nothing seems to be working at all. But as you can see from the response of the Prophet there is a way out.
Glory be to God! For God will never leave you without a witness and also a way out. 1Cor10v13; Ps94v14.
So no matter what area of life you are currently experiencing a recession, cheer up for there is hope at the end of the tunnel. You can come out and you can overcome the recession. As we go through these basic truths about recession in this series, I believe that you will be better equipped to deal with any form of recession in Jesus name amen.

Prayer for Today: Father God, thank you for opening my eyes of understanding to what recession is all about!
CONFESSION: As I gain knowledge and truth about what recession is, I therefore operate from the place of dominion and power. Recession will not have power over me because I know the truth about it and the truth puts me above and not beneath. I am a victor and not a victim! Glory be to God, for I am not a slave to the recession! I am a winner in Jesus name amen.
