Ephesians 5v16: Redeeming the time because the days are evil.

This series of teachings is about getting the best out of your day and your life. My dear reader, it’s possible to make the most out of your days. You can have a productive and fruitful day regardless of your circumstances or life situations in which you may find yourself. The Great Apostle Paul showed us by his example in his book of the Philippians, that although he was locked up in jail, his joy was still intact; he made the most out of a challenging situation (phil.3v1: 4v4). If he could do so, you too can do such. You can do likewise if you choose to imbibe certain belief systems and mentality. In our last lesson, I shared two of such principles with you, and today by his grace; we shall be considering other powerful principles. So if you are ready, here we go!

MAXIMISING YOUR DAY:

1. Focus on what is important. Not all things are important, so you need to choose your focus wisely if you want to make the most out of your day. Avoid being a Jack of all trades and master of none. Stop dissipating your energies unnecessarily or anyhow. Many things will catch your eye, but not everything will capture your heart (1 Cor.6v12). My dear reader, this is why you need to prioritize your life and what you do. Focus on what is important and not just on urgent tasks. And how can you know what is important? Anything that has to do with your vision, dreams, destiny, purpose, goals, gifts/talents, etc. Those are some of the examples of what is important. You need wisdom and courage to focus on what is really important to your life and destiny if you are going to get the best out of your day.

From experience and research, the Pareto Principle is one powerful principle that can help you to get your priorities right in life. This principle was discovered by a man named Vilfredo Pareto in 1906. It’s also called the Law of the Vital Few or 80/20 Rule. This principle states that 20% of your priorities will give you 80% of your production if you spend your time, energy, money, and personnel on the top 20% of your priorities. What does this mean, therefore? For instance, in business, it means that 80% of your sales will come from 20% of your clients. It can also mean that 20% of your inputs will produce or give you 80% of the results or even 20% of your workers produce 80% of the results. This is what the Pareto Principle is all about, and you need to apply this principle to your operations so that you can begin to maximize your day and time very well. So it’s time to major in major things and also minor in minor things. Stop chasing shadows but instead focus on the things that are important to your life and destiny. It’s a new day for you today, and I see you in your land of destiny in Jesus’ name, amen.

    Other Scriptural References: (Lk.10v42; Ps.27v4: 25v15; Heb.12v2; Jn.4v34: 6v38; 1Tim.4v15).

Prayer for Today: Precious Holy Spirit, help me to start focusing on the things that really matter. In the name of Jesus, I stop chasing shadows in Jesus name, amen.

CONFESSION: I commit myself from today to living purposefully. I choose to focus on the things that are important to my life and destiny. I do not beat the air or fight aimlessly. I work with purpose and drive. I am focused on my goals, dreams, vision, and destination. I major in the major, and I also minor in the minor. I do not beat about the bush, neither am I chasing shadows; as I choose my focus wisely, I am profiting from my days and time in Jesus’ name, amen.
