Romans 8verse12-13‘Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if we live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.’

It’s possible to gain mastery over your flesh! You can have the upper hand or advantage over your flesh! This victory is available in Christ Jesus and this is what this series of teachings are all about. You are not to be subject to your flesh. Instead, you ought to have dominion over your flesh. This is part of what our text scripture says in Rom8v12-13.

As a child of God, your flesh should be:

– Under your Feet. Rom16v20

– Under submission to your recreated human spirit. Your spirit man should dominate your flesh. 1Cor9v27

– Under the control of the Holy Spirit. Gal5v17-18

This is how God ordained it and it’s time to walk in the reality of this truths in Jesus name, amen.

So how can you gain control over Your Flesh? What are the tools and resources available to you? These are the things I intend to share with you from today’s lesson by his grace. So without much ado, let’s examine the first key.

HOW TO TAME YOUR FLESH

1. By Allowing the Word of God to dominate your life. This is one of the important spiritual disciplines you need to cultivate if you really want to dominate your flesh. The Word of God can help you to control your flesh by allowing the word to grow and take root in your heart. Col3v16. This is something you need to do on a daily basis. Allow God’s word to nourish and develop in you. This is how you sow the seeds of dominion into your life. It’s time to begin to give the word greater attention in your life.

There are two principal ways through which God’s word can dominate your life and they are as follows:

I. Have time for the Word. What does this mean? It means to have time to read, listen, meditate and study God’s word. This is one powerful way by which the word takes root in your heart. This exercise is something you have to do yourself. You cannot delegate it or say that you are too busy to do it because your victory depends on it. It’s time to get to work. 1Tim4v13: Ps119v16, 47

ii. Act on the Word. Do what the Word says. Put the word to practice in your life; by so doing, you will be giving God’s word a foothold in your life. Your acting on the Word is actually submitting to the Word. The more you can do this, the greater your dominion over the flesh. So make up your mind, precious child of God that you will be a doer of the Word from henceforth in Jesus name, amen. Jam1v22,25

It’s clear from our study today that you can actually walk in victory over your flesh if you give God’s word first place in your life. So what are you waiting for? Begin to allow God’s word to take root in your life! See you at the top.
