Gen.2v18-23: “And the Lord God said, it is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him. Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the field. But for Adam, there was not found a helper comparable to him. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said; this is now bone of my bones; and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”
You are welcome back to our discussion on this very important subject matter. In our last lesson, we focused on how a husband can pay attention to the needs of his wife. Today, our focus will be on how a wife can meet the legitimate needs of her husband. It’s important for you to know as a married person that you ought to give utmost attention to the needs of your spouse if you really want your marriage to be strong and blissful.
So as a wife, what are the legitimate needs of your husband and how can you meet them? As a wife, your husband has the following basic needs:
- Need for encouragement, so it’s important for you to be his best encourager.
- Need for assistance, so it’s important to be a helper indeed (Gen.2v18).
- Need for sexual intimacy, so it’s important to satisfy his sexual needs (Pro.5v18-20).
- Need for fulfilment, so it’s important to help him achieve this.
- Need for respect, so it’s important to respect your husband (Pro.12v4).
- Need for admiration, so it’s important to admire your husband.
- Need for peace/tranquillity, so it’s important to give him peace of mind (Pro.31v12).
- Need for acceptance/participation, so it’s important you accept your husband.
- Need for trust, so it’s important you are trustworthy (Pro.31v11).
- Need for appreciation/affirmation, so it’s important for you to appreciate the efforts of your husband.
Honestly speaking as the wife to your husband, how well do you meet his needs? It’s time to do better! It’s time to start paying more attention to his needs! It’s time for a more fulfilling and better marriage!
