1kings3v3-12 ‘V3 And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places. V4 And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar. V5 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. V6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. V7 And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. v8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. V9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? V10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. V11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; v12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.’

Our God is a God of divine encounters. In fact, he specializes in giving divine encounters, as you can see from our text scripture (1kings 3v3-12). Solomon had an encounter with the Lord in Gibeon that left an indelible mark on his life. In the same vein, Jehovah wants to give such an encounter. So what is a divine encounter? It’s an encounter with God or a divine visitation! A divine Encounter occurs when God touches you where it really matters. It is meeting with God in a new and different way. Another way we can look at divine encounters is God visiting you in a new dimension. This is exactly what happened to Solomon as he came to worship God in Gibeon. When you also take a closer look at the bible, you see other men and women who experienced God in a unique and special way. Some examples of these men are as follows:
-Abraham (Gen12v1-4)
-Jacob(Gen32v26)
-Blind Bartimaeus (Mk10v46-52)
-King Saul(1Sam10v6-7).
My dearly beloved ones, it’s clear from the above examples that you too can have a divine encounter with the Lord because he is no respecter of persons but a respecter of faith. Rom10v12-13. So how can someone provoke or activate divine encounters? This is what we shall be examining in these series of lessons by his grace, but before we do that, I like you to share some definite things that a divine encounter will do to you or for you:

1. It will change your life forever. One touch from God can change a man’s life forever. I have seen this over and over again in scriptures and in life generally speaking. You need to remember that Moses just had an encounter with the Lord that changed his life forever. Exo4v2,17. My dear reader, God can also give you an encounter that will change your life forever. So get ready for his touch.
It will change things for the better. My dearly beloved ones, a genuine encounter will not leave things the way they are anymore. There is no place or man that God visits that ever remains the same. In the same vein, God will leave his footprints anywhere or person he visits. So my dear brothers and sisters, get for a turnaround in your life. Ps107v20
It will change your perspective. This simply means that God’s visitation changes the way you look at things. It changes your outlook or view of things. I have had this experience personally and I know that at times the reason we argue or fuss over certain things is that we have not had a divine encounter with God. Jb42v5, but guess what? That is about to change from henceforth because God will visit you afresh this season. In fact, I decree that today will mark the beginning of your long-awaited visitation in Jesus name, amen.
