2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

It’s important for you to know that you now have a new identity in Christ as a believer. This is what (2Corinthians 5:17) is all about i.e. your new status in Christ. However, my focus in today’s lesson will be centered on reasons why you need to be aware of your new identity in Christ. So what are some of these reasons?

Reasons to Know Your Identity in Christ:
In order for you to understand who you really are. Most of the time, we undervalue or underestimate who we really are in Christ. This is why it is so crucial for you to know your true identity in Christ. It’s possible to be a stranger to yourself! This is what happened to Gideon in (Judges 6:12-16). He didn’t realize who he was until he had that encounter with God. I am praying also for you today that you will come into a fuller understanding of who you really are as you encounter God in this series of teachings.
In order to boost your confidence levels. Knowing your identity in Christ will increase your confidence levels and you need confidence in order to win the battles of life. Knowledge instills confidence and courage, thereby making you a threat to Satan and his cohorts (Daniel 11:32).
In order for you to be able to live a victorious life. Knowing your identity in Christ makes you a champion and not a defeated person. It makes you a victor and not a victim. In fact, the more you understand your true identity, the greater your level of dominion. So, it’s time to step into this dimension (Romans 5:17).
Dearly beloved, I believe you can now see the reasons why you need to understand your true identity in Christ. As you embrace this truth, I can see you singing a new song of victory and triumph.
