Your Identity In Christ 18

• (2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new)

I believe that this series on knowing who you are in Christ has been a huge blessing to you for this is one of the major reasons for this exposition. I know also that this is the beginning of the best days of your life as you keep on embracing and imbibing these truths. I will be rounding up this series today, but that will not be without considering one more truth about your identity in Christ, which is:

• You are the salt of this earth (Matthew 5:13). This is your new identity in Christ. If you notice, God did not say you are pepper or onion but the salt of the earth. This is very profound and this is how you need to see yourself henceforth as His child. So, what does it really mean to be the salt of the earth?

It means:

• You are a necessity of life. This simply means that you are someone that the world cannot do without. You are an asset and not a liability. You are extremely important. Just like a man cannot live without oxygen, the world cannot live without you. This is one meaning of being the salt of the earth (Mark 9:50).
• You are God’s seasoning agent. You are to enhance the flavor of where you are as the salt of the earth. So, without you, there will be no beauty or meaning in our world. This is how powerful and relevant you are as His salt. You were designed by God to add colour, taste, and beauty to our world. Are you ready to begin to function as God’s seasoning agent in our world?
• You are God’s preservative agent. This means you are here to prevent decay or decadence. I know that we are living in perilous times; but, I believe one of the reasons things have not completely gone out of hand is because of the presence of believers (i.e. salt) on the earth. Glory be to God! Because you are here as His salt, lives, and destinies will be preserved. Rejoice, child of God, for this is part of your function as the salt of the earth (Luke 14:34-35).

You are God disinfectant. A disinfectant is a chemical liquid that destroys bacteria. So, as His salt here on earth, part of your responsibility is to also destroy every agent of death, sickness, and enemy of man’s wellness. This is your new status in Christ as this is what salt does. Precious child of God, you need to begin to see yourself as God’s weapon of cleansing and purging of the earth and its system. You are His salt, so, go forth and influence your world for good (Jer.51:20-24).

My dear reader, are you ready to fully embrace your role as the salt of the earth? Are you ready to shine for His glory? The onus lies on you; so, why not begin today to walk in the reality of this truth? I guarantee you that your life will change for the better.

Prayer for Today: Lord, I acknowledge and I affirm, today, my role and position as the salt of the earth. Thank you for bestowing on me such a great responsibility and honour. Holy Spirit help me to live up to this identity as a salt indeed in Jesus name Amen.

CONFESSION: I am the salt of this earth. I am a necessity and not a liability. I am needed and not just wanted. I am God’s seasoning agent. Therefore, I add beauty and meaning to this world. I am God’s preservative agent. Therefore, lives, destinies, nations and things are preserved where I am. As his salt, I expunge darkness and every evil work. By the help of the Holy Spirit I will not lose my saltiness and relevance in Jesus name, amen. I will continue to function as the salt of this world to the glory of His holy name.
