LESSON FOUR:
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF A CHURCH WORKER (1 Cor.16v10)
INTRODUCTION
As a Church Worker serving in any Teams/Ministries in this Commission, you have specific duties to perform. This is so because of the nature of work you are to carry out in those Teams/Ministries. It’s very important for you to know what is expected of you wherever you serve so that you can give your very best to the work. This what this lesson is all about, I trust
you will be blessed as we go through this lesson.
A. REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR SPECIFIC ROLE AS A CHURCH WORKER.
The following are some of the reasons why you need to understand your specific role(s) in the Teams/Ministries you serve.
1. So as to know what is expected of you. Being a member of any team/ministries places certain expectations on you (Mic.6v8).
2. So as to know what you are supposed to do e.g. The job of an Usher is definitely different from that of an Intercessor (Acts 9v6).
3. To avoid Confusion, Assumption, and Anarchy (1Cor.14v40; Jug.17v6: 21v25).
B. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES OF EVERY TEAM/MINISTRIES
Below are the specific duties of all the Teams/Ministries that we have in this Commission:
1. PROTOCOL TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ To establish and maintain order, etiquette and good conduct in all areas of their ministry.
➢ To serve as a liaison between the church and invited guests and Ministries.
➢ Attend to guest Ministers and with regards to their visitor’s welfare, security and comfort.
➢ They are responsible for pre and post-visit, planning and reception for visiting Ministers or Guest Artistes.
➢ Planning and executing of the traveling itinerary of the Pastorate as the need arises.
➢ Arrange Hotel accommodation for visiting Ministers and Guests.
➢ Transportation of Ministers and Guests to/fro to the venue of the church as the need arises.
➢ Airport arrival and departure of Ministers and Guest Artistes.
➢ See to the comfort of Church Guests Ministers and Artistes.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities for getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
2. DESIGN/BRANDING TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Make designs for Campaigns, Services, and Programs.
➢ Create engaging visuals for Outreaches, Ministries, and Teams.
➢ Design graphic materials for our worship experience and other resources.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities for getting people saved/added to the kingdom
on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
3. WELFARE TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Reach out to members in times of need. This help could be in-form of money, necessities (i.e. clothes, food etc.), resources, empowerment or training etc.
➢ Help out in special programs where necessary i.e. dinners, weddings, outreaches etc.
➢ Make provisions available during fasting programs i.e. snacks, water, drinks etc.
➢ Organize outreaches that can minister to the basic needs of people both internally and externally i.e. in-house and for outsiders i.e. Welfare Day, Samaritan Outreach etc.
➢ Shall be in charge of the Food Bank and also responsible for its effective Disbursement.
➢ Shall coordinate alongside the Hospitality Team on Free Meal Program.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
4. SANCTUARY KEEPERS TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ See to the regular cleaning of the church auditorium and its environs e.g. toilets etc. before and after each service.
➢ Ensure proper disposal of dirt’s in and outside the auditorium.
➢ Ensure all the toilets and other conveniences are functioning and in good shape before and after service.
➢ Through their Ministry, they should seek to create an Atmosphere/Environment that is suitable/befitting for Worship always.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiative etc.
5. PHOTOGRAPHY TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Capturing the experience of the service or program on camera.
➢ Photograph special events, outreach events of the church.
➢ Editing of all photograph(s).
➢ Maintain and organize photo libraries and archives.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities for getting people saved/added to the kingdom
on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
6. TECHNICAL TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Maintaining and setting up of musical equipment’s for church services and other programs.
➢ Recording messages of every service and special programs.
➢ Production of C.D’s, DVD’s as the case may be.
➢ Shall see to the switching on/off of the Generators, for all services/programs.
➢ Shall also see to the proper maintenance of the Generators i.e. through regular servicing/repairs as when due.
➢ Shall be responsible for the switching on/off of all the Air-Conditioners in the church for all our Services/Programs.
➢ Shall also see to the proper maintenance of the Air-Conditioners too i.e. regular servicing/repairs etc.
➢ Shall be regularly/trained/equipped in order to deliver better service i.e. attending Workshops/Seminars/Training etc.
➢ Shall ensure that Qualitative Sound Production is achieved in all our Services/Programs.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
7. USHERING TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Maintain order during all Services/Programs by ensuring that noise and any other thing that can cause distractions are minimized or eliminated.
➢ Give accurate headcount of those present in Services and Special Programs.
➢ Ensure proper arrangement of chairs and other items that has to do with the Service.
➢ Ensure that people are properly placed and seats are duly filled up in a systematic and decent fashion.
➢ Ensure that there is a smooth inflow and outflow of people during the services/programs.
➢ Shall wait on the Lead Pastors/Ministers when people are being ministered to.
➢ Ensure that people are properly handled, secured, and taken care of during Ministrations.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities for getting people saved/added to the kingdom
on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
8. HOSPITALITY TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Coordinate activities that involve hospitality and care ministries in the church.
➢ Shall be responsible for the preparation of foods, drinks for refreshments in all our
church programs and services.
➢ Shall work together with the Protocol Team in delivering food, drinks, refreshments for Guest Ministers, Artistes during Special Programs of the Church.
➢ Shall ensure serving of food for Guest Ministers during special Programs of the Church, must ensure they are properly dressed and courteous during the whole process.
➢ Shall strive to offer the best Hospitable Service possible in all their endeavors/Services.
➢ Shall coordinate alongside the Welfare Team on Free Meal Program.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
9. DRAMA TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ To evangelize by bringing the gospel to our community through her ministrations.
➢ To nurture and develop the gift of acting through trainings, seminars, etc.
➢ To organize outreaches both within and outside the church that will bring about the expansion of the work.
➢ To have a training school where her members are adequately trained for better service delivery.
➢ To put together plays, and productions that will edify and entertain the church.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
10. INTERCESSORY TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ To intercede for the growth and development of the Church and its members; Spiritually, Emotionally, Financially etc.
➢ Support the Church and Leadership in the place of prayer as intercessors.
➢ Pray towards all upcoming Church Services and Programs.
➢ Receive prayer requests from Church members through Prayer Requests box or personal discussion with the Team and agree with them in the place of prayer.
➢ Pray towards the spiritual growth and enrichment of all Church Members.
➢ To stand in the gap in the place of prayer for the church and its members.
➢ Facilitate a prayer chain for the congregation from time to time.
➢ Provide a prayer shield for the Lead Pastors and Minsters.
➢ Work with the Lead Pastors to provide opportunities for the congregation to enrich their prayer lives.
➢ Shall raise up an army of Committed/Faithful & Spirit-Filled Intercessors.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom
on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
11. DECORATION/LIGHTNINGS TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Shall see to the Beautification of our Sanctuary/Church Auditorium.
➢ Shall come up with creative means of beautifying and decorating the church.
➢ Shall see to the proper maintenance of all its Accessories and Tools for Decorating etc.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
12. COUNSELLING TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Shall be involved in leading New Converts to Christ both in our Services/Outreaches.
➢ They shall minister the gift of the Holy Spirit to them i.e. New Converts with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
➢ They shall be involved in the follow-up of New Converts and their establishments.
➢ They shall be adequately trained/equipped in offering guidance/assistance to church members in key areas of Life/Ministry e.g. Deliverance, Healing, Prayers etc.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiative etc.
13. EVANGELISM/WITNESSING TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Shall be involved in winning souls to Christ on a regular basis through several initiatives such as One-on-One Evangelism, Saturation Evangelism, Crusades/Outreaches to schools/community etc.
➢ Shall train and equip its members regularly on the relevant skills/practices in the field of Soul Winning.
➢ Shall create Awareness/Consciousness about Winning Souls in the Church.
➢ Shall pray that the burden for Souls will grow/spread among our Church Members.
➢ Shall be involved in the production/distribution of tracts, bibles and other
evangelism instruments for Winning Souls.
➢ Shall organize outreaches to Schools/Prisons/Hospitals etc. with the sole purpose of
Winning Souls from time to time.
➢ Shall work in partnership with the Counselling & Visitation/Follow-Up Team with
regards to the follow-up of New Converts and their establishment.
14. VISITATION & FOLLOW-UP TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ To follow-up and visit visitors, new converts and church members as the case may be.
➢ Ensure that visitors and new converts are visited within 48 hours of their first visit to the church.
➢ Help new converts and visitors to get fully integrated into the church life i.e. by helping them make friends with other people in the church, attending the foundation classes, joining a team or ministry.
➢ Shall regularly write/submit reports of their visitation to visitors/new converts/church members to the church secretariat for evaluation, safekeeping, and future reference.
➢ Shall work towards the establishment and retention of new converts/visitors in the church.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
15. MUSIC TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Shall lead the congregation in songs during our services and other programs.
➢ To organize outreaches both within and outside the church that will bring about the expansion of the work.
➢ They should be involved in training and development of her members for better service delivery.
➢ Training school where musicians and choristers can develop and harness their talents.
➢ Create and develop new songs.
➢ Create an atmosphere where music gifts/talents can be nurtured, developed and harnessed.
➢ Shall create an atmosphere where the Spirit of God is free to move and operate through their songs/ministrations/Praise & Worship etc.
➢ Shall constantly improve the quality of Music Ministry of the Commission.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
16. TREASURY TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Responsible for counting and re-conciliation of all Tithes and Offerings during Church Service and Programs.
➢ Responsible for the sorting out and reconciliation of pledges and donations made during Church Services and Programs.
➢ Shall ensure that the Service Order Form/Treasury Booklets are duly signed after each Service/Program by the Lead Pastors/Ministers.
➢ Shall keep properly Records of all their counting/Reconciliation of all Tithes, Offerings, Pledges/Donations etc. in their Treasury Books/ other Financial Instruments that they use.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
17. MARRIAGE COUNSELLING TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ See to the spiritual and physical preparation of intending couples for marriage.
➢ Counseling of married couples as the need arises i.e. marital conflicts/issues etc.
➢ See to the other marriage-related duties as directed by Lead Pastors.
➢ Shall be involved in post-marital interaction/counseling with our newly wedded couples to see how they are progressing in their marital experience.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities for getting people saved/added to the kingdom
on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
18. SERVICE MANAGEMENT TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Shall ensure that at everything needed for all our Services/Programs to run smoothly are in place i.e. such as the Generator, AC’s, Equipment’s, Lightning etc.
➢ Shall liaise with the Teams/Ministries that has one thing or the other to do directly with the Services are on top of their game i.e. in terms of preparation, procurement etc.
➢ Shall see to better service delivery in all on services/events.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities for getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiative etc.
19. MEETERS/GREETERS TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Shall meet and welcome visitors/members to church in a loving and friendly way.
➢ Shall greet and see off our members/visitors powerfully into the New Week.
➢ Shall create an atmosphere of celebration and excitement while meeting and greeting our members/visitors.
➢ Shall act as a cheerleader for the church.
➢ Shall assist our members/visitors in the best possible way to make the service experience a wonderful one for them.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
20. SPORTS & FITNESS TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ To promote the physical well-being and wellness among our members.
➢ To create an avenue where our members can engage in sports and exercise as a means of relaxation/refreshment.
➢ To use sport and fitness as a means of winning souls to the kingdom.
➢ To improve the overall health and well-being of our members.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities for getting people saved/added to the
kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
21. TRANSPORT TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Shall organize and coordinate Bus Services for our Services/Programs.
➢ Shall maintain and upgrade our Bus routes/schedules for both the campuses/other places.
➢ Shall work hand in hand with our Campus Ministries in the various campuses to provide Bus Service to her members there.
➢ Shall look at ways of increasing and strengthening our Bus Networks/Routes so as to reach more people.
➢ Shall look out for ways of procuring our own Buses and see also to its regular maintenance.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiative etc.
22. WELCOME/RECEPTION TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Shall receive warmly and lovingly all our visitors in our Services/Programs.
➢ Shall be available to assist and serve our visitors in making their Service Experience a worthwhile one.
➢ Shall give to every Guest and Visitor a copy of our Welcome Form and ensure that its properly filled.
➢ Shall keep adequate records of all Guests and Visitors in their Teams Library/File.
➢ Shall ensure that all our Guests/Visitors are called within 24hours of attending our Services/Events.
➢ They shall assist in visiting/following up our Visitors from time to time.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiative etc.
23. SECURITY/LOGISTICS TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Shall ensure that all cars/vehicles meant for our services/events are properly secured/protected.
➢ Shall ensure that vehicles are parked in an orderly manner.
➢ Shall see to the proper coordination of the movement of vehicles after each Service/Event.
➢ Shall maintain surveillance and patrol in all the areas of our Services/Events.
➢ Shall be vigilant and prompt in spotting and identifying trouble spots/problem areas in the disposition of their Assignment.
➢ Shall use gadgets and equipment that will help them to carry out their Assignment effectively i.e. walkie talkie etc.
➢ Shall provide a safe and secure environment and atmosphere during all our services/events.
➢ Shall ensure that our members/visitors are properly protected/secured before, during, and after our services/events.
➢ Shall undergo regular training in line with current realities to make them more effective in the discharge of their duties.
➢ Shall be observant and very sensitive to their environments/thing’s happenings around them.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiative etc.
24. ACADEMIC TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Shall organize programs and initiatives to assist students in our midst in excelling in their academic endeavors.
➢ To help and empower students in our church Academically.
➢ To also use Academics as a means of reaching out effectively in our communities/campuses in general.
➢ To develop and facilitate trainers/tutors that will help them in discharging their duties properly.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities for getting people saved/added to the kingdom
on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
25. SOCIAL-MEDIA (UPLOADING/PROCESSING) TEAM
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Shall ensure that the pictures and videos of all our Service Experience are properly uploaded/processed in all our Social Media Platforms.
➢ Shall regularly advertise and publicize all our church services/events on the Social Media Platforms.
➢ Shall see that the Church has an interactive, engaging and productive Social Media Presence.
➢ Shall ensure that our pictures and videos online tell our story in a beautiful/glorying Manner.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiative etc.
26. CAMPUS FELLOWSHIP MINISTRIES
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Shall see to the planting/establishment Campus fellowship in the various Higher Institutions of Learning i.e. Universities/Polytechnics etc.
➢ Shall provide support and cover for the Ministries on this Campus regularly so that it can function and run smoothly.
➢ Shall ensure that our bus services run smoothly/effectively on these campuses.
➢ Shall organize outreaches on these Campuses from time to time so that God’s kingdom can be extended.
➢ Shall come up with creative ways of reaching these campuses effectively.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
27. CHILDREN MINISTRIES
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ Shall attend to the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of our children in all our services/programs.
➢ Shall create an atmosphere where children can learn, play, and enjoy God’s presence.
➢ Shall work towards the growth and development of our children spiritually, emotionally and physically.
➢ Shall work towards producing children after the image/likeness of Christ.
➢ To nurture and nourish our children in the Word of God.
➢ To instill God’s fear, discipline and knowledge in the minds and hearts of our children.
➢ Shall celebrate the Annual Children’s Day in the best possible way that will minister to the children and draw families to Christ too.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
28. MEN MINISTRIES
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ To create a platform where all married Men can be brought together to grow and develop in the likeness/character of Christ.
➢ To address issues relating to Men in General in a pragmatic and thorough manner.
➢ To minister to the needs and aspirations of our Married Men in general.
➢ To help our Men in playing their Roles and fulfilling their God-given Assignment.
➢ To produce strong and better Men in all areas of Life/Ministry i.e. Maritally, Spiritually, Professionally (i.e. Business/Career) etc.
➢ Shall organize programs and outreaches that can minister to Men and the Family at large from time to time.
➢ Shall celebrate the Annual Father’s Day in the best possible way that will minister to the Family and draw others to Christ too.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiative etc.
29. WOMEN MINISTRIES
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ To create a platform where all Married Women can be brought together to grow and develop in the likeness/character of Christ.
➢ To address issues relating to Women in general in a pragmatic and thorough manner.
➢ To minister to the needs and aspirations of our Married Women in general.
➢ To help our Women in playing their unique roles and also fulfill their God-given Assignment.
➢ To produce virtuous and better Women in all areas of Life/Ministry i.e. Spiritually,
Maritally, Professionally (i.e. Business/Career), etc.
➢ Shall organize programs and outreaches that can minister to Women and the Family
at large from time to time.
➢ Shall celebrate the Annual Mother’s Day in the best possible way that will minister to
the Family and draw others to Christ.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities for getting people saved/added to the kingdom
on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
30. SINGLES/YOUTH MINISTRIES
Duties/Responsibilities
➢ To create a platform for our young men/women to grow and develop in their walk with the Lord.
➢ To harnass the gifts, talents and potential of our young men/women to the fullest and in a way that will bring glory to God.
➢ To deploy the energies and creativity of our young men/women in the most productive way/manner.
➢ To create opportunities and initiatives for our young men/women to acquire the appropriate skills, ideas, exposure etc. that will make them relevant in the market place and the world at large.
➢ To address issues relating to young men/women in general in a pragmatic and thorough manner.
➢ To produce strong and better young men/women who will serve as positive change Agents for God in our Society.
➢ To deploy their talent(s) and energies in reaching their fellow compatriots to the glory and honor of Christ name.
➢ Shall organize programs and outreaches that can minister to young men/women at large from time to time.
➢ Shall organize and create opportunities of getting people saved/added to the kingdom on a regular basis i.e. outreaches/other initiatives etc.
