Psalm 34:1-2: I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad

I do hope you are enjoying our discourse on when to praise the Lord. From what we can see so far, it’s very clear that God expects His praise from us at certain times and it’s important that we do so if we really want to experience the power of His praise.

Today, we are going to take our conversation further by looking at some other important times that we ought to praise Him.

  • When you should not praise him. What kind of times are these? For instance, the loss of a job or passing on of a loved one. In the eyes of the world, these are not the times to praise; but on the contrary, it’s a wonderful opportunity to show gratitude to Jehovah. Do you praise God in such times as these? (2 Samuel 12:16-20).
  • When you don’t feel like praising him. There will be times like this in your life but God’s Word still expects you to praise him notwithstanding (2 Corinthians 5:7). Do your feelings determine your praise?
  • When it doesn’t make any sense to praise Him. I mean when it doesn’t look sensible to praise God. Yes, it may not make sense to you but it will make you a sign when you praise God at such times (2 Chronicles 20:15-25).
  • When things are not going your way or as planned. The Lord still expects you to be able to praise him when the odds are against you. This often gives God an opportunity of manifesting His power and glory (Acts 16:25-26).
  • When you don’t know what next to do. When you are confused or even frustrated, you are still expected to praise God because He will show Himself mighty in your frustration if you can only praise Him (Ps.42v5, 11).

My dear reader, as foolish as some of the things I have shared with you looks like, therein lies the power and the mystery of praise. Where you think God is weak, that’s where he is strongest and He is about to show Himself mighty in your life through your praise. So, why not give him your praise? (Psalm 50:23; 1 Corinthians 1:26-29).
