Psalm 34:1-2: I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Is there a time to praise God? The answer is “yes” because the Scripture does not only encourage us to praise God, but also tells us when to praise him. The action of praising God is not only important but also the timing of our praise matters to God. This is what David was trying to teach us in Psalm 34:1 when he says “I will bless the Lord at all times.” So, there is a time to praise God. Now, when should we praise the Lord?
We ought to praise God:
- Now; I mean today. The time to praise God is today and not tomorrow because the time of faith is now. God does not want us to postpone our praise or joy to another day. Are you ready to praise God today? (Psalm 118:24).
- All the time. This means you are to praise both in good, bad or ugly times, because “all the time” simply means “all the time” indeed. The praises of God are not supposed to cease from your mouth or be seasonal but must be offered regularly! Are you praising God all the time (Psalm 34:1)?
- In every situation of life. This means we ought to praise the Lord regardless of whatever circumstance. He wants us to choose an attitude of gratitude in any situation of life (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Are you praising God in whatsoever circumstance you find yourself?
- As long as I live. In other words, you are to praise God as long as you breathe or have your being. This is the way he wants you to praise him. Are you praising him in this manner? (Psalm 104:33).
- Forever and ever. You are supposed to praise Him not just here on earth but also for eternity. By the way, one of the things we will do in eternity is praising Him forever. Are you ready for this noble exercise? (Psalm 145:1-2).
Precious child of God, I believe you can see that God places emphasis on the time to praise Him. Are you ready to praise Him in this manner? May you experience the wonders of His praise as you do so!
