Ps.77v7-9: Will the Lord cast off forever? And will He be favourable no more? Has his mercy ceased forever? Has his promise failed forevermore? Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

I strongly believe that you have been enjoying this series of messages on When God seems Distant. This is my fervent prayer and desire for you that your eyes of understanding may be further enlightened and that new courage and hope will arise from within you, knowing fully well that Jehovah will never forsake or forget his very own. So how do you deal with the feelings or notion of God being far or being quiet concerning your matter? Blessed be the Lord, for he has not left us without a witness. There are proven and tested ways of responding to the feeling of God not being nigh or close and this is what I intend to share with you in this lesson. So without much ado, let’s look at how to respond to this issue.

WHAT TO DO WHEN GOD SEEMS DISTANT

  1. Put him in remembrance of his Word. This is how to respond to the feeling of God being far away from you. Put God in remembrance of his holy word. The word won’t work unless you work it. You need to activate it for yourself before it works! And the way you do this is with your mouth, or your prayer or confessions (Pro.18v21). You need to do this very often or regularly. In fact, it should be part and parcel of your daily living. As you do this, you will be activating the forces of heaven and the earth to work in your favour. So my dear reader, what are you waiting for? it’s time to go to work (Isa.43v26).
  2. Rest in his promise. It’s not just enough to remind him of his promises; you need to also rest in his promises. When you rest in what God has said, you will not be complaining, murmuring, grumbling, agitated or contentious. This is how you can know if you are resting in what God has promised. To rest also carries the impression that you are not trying to make it happen, but you trust God to make good his promise. So my dearly beloved, it’s time to enter into his rest. Those who rest on his promises will never be put to shame (Ps.37v7).
  3. Draw nigh unto him. If God seems distant, you can actually draw close to him. You have this privilege and opportunity because his word assures us of the fact that you can be as close to God as much as you want (Jam.4v8). So it’s time to draw nigh by your worship, prayers, service etc. Don’t let anything or anyone get in your way. Draw closer! Draw nearer to him. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to exercise this privilege. As you draw closer you will encounter Jehovah on a higher and new dimension (Mk.10v47-48). Start making the moves from today. I see the tide turning in your favour in Jesus name, amen.

Prayer for Today: Heavenly Father, grant me the courage and wisdom to know that you are closer to me than I can imagine in Jesus name, amen.

CONFESSION: I receive illumination and enlightenment from his word today in knowing that I am never alone. I am the apple of his eyes. I am the focus of his attention. His eyes are over me, and his thoughts are ever towards me. Therefore, I am never alone, for he that is with me is greater than who is in the world. Because my God never sleeps nor slumbers, I refuse to worry or fret about my life and destiny. I rest in his word, regardless of what I am seeing or feeling; his word works mightily in me and for me. Glory be to his name, for my God is ever with me. Therefore, I will not be put to shame or ridiculed in Jesus name, amen.
