Jn.13v3-15: Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are you washing my feet”? Jesus answered and said to him, “what I am doing, you do not understand now, but you will know after this”. Peter Sid to him, “You shall never wash my feet”. Jesus answered him, “if I do not wash you, you have no part with Me”. Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head”. Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you. For He knew who would betray him; therefore, He said, “you are not all clean”. So when He had washed their feet, taken his garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “do you know what I have done to you? You call me teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

Our God wants to be served in a particular way and not just anyhow. Hence, why you need to be aware of His requirements for service, which has been the subject of our discussion for some time now. I trust you are being blessed and empowered by these truths. There are certain requirements that you need to meet if you really want to serve the Lord. And today by His grace, I will be sharing more insights on this requirement. Are you ready for this? So here we go!

THE REQUIREMENTS OF SERVICE:

1. Generosity. Serving God also entails serving him with your substance or possessions. There is nothing like serving God without serving him with your treasures and resources (Lk.8v2-3). True servers or servants are givers and giving is the proof of your love for God’s work. So if you really love God’s work, you will support it with your means/resources (Acts 4v34-37). So my dear reader, are you ready to serve God with your means and resources also? Are you willing to give God your BEST? The answers you give to these questions will determine to a great extent whether you are ready to serve the Lord with your treasure or not. It’s time for you to get on the giving end!

2. Purity. This is another requirement of service that God demands of you. No Purity actually means No Power! God wants you to serve Him in the purity of heart, mind, and body. In order to be of great use in God’s hand, your vessel should be pure (Jn.13v3; 2Tim.2v20-21). In fact, the greater your consecration, the greater your level of service. I know our world is full of defilements and pollution but it’s possible for you to stay pure. So keep yourself from idolatry. Keep your vessel clean. Stay away from every form of contamination in order to be effective in your service to God. I hereby charge you to commit yourself to a lifestyle of purity from today. It’s a commitment that you will never regret but will also greatly change your life for the better. So go for it.

3. Preparation. If God is going to use you for his glory, you need to be prepared. You need to prepare your heart, soul and body for his use. This is how to serve God effectively. My dear reader, your preparation is important because it helps you to render an excellent service to the Lord (Pro.16v1). So how prepared are you for his use or service? Never take your preparation lightly but seriously because it’s the gateway to glorifying God. So take the time to prepare yourself thoroughly and totally. Leave no stone untouched for preparation is never wasted time but it will yield the fruits of a great reward in the future. My dear reader, it’s time to brace yourself up for his service. It’s time to take your service to another level. It’s time to fully embrace the requirements for service. As you do this, I see God’s glory and grace radiating through your service.
