Psalm 92verse12-14 ‘V12-The righteous shall flow like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. V13-Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. V14-They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing.’
According to the above scripture (i.e.Psalm92v12-14), God wants you to flourish as his child. This is his will for you as his beloved child and in fact, God does not even keep you in the dark as to how he wants you to flourish. He is very specific and intentional about your flourishing (that is way he says you ought to flourish like the Palm and Cedar Trees). However, if this promise of flourishing will be a reality in your life, you need to understand what it means to really flourish! Your understanding is very crucial as you cannot take advantage of what you do not understand! In order to properly understand the concept of flourishing, I will be looking at what flourishing means both from the English and Bible languages. So let’s start with the English language. What is flourishing?
The word flourish means the following:
-To grow well, to be healthy
-To be successful, to do very well
-To thrive, prosper, succeed
-To grow vigorously, to grow or develop successfully
-To ornament with something flowering or fanciful
-To thrive: to grow luxuriantly: to increase and enlarge as a healthy growing plant
-To be prosperous: to increase in wealth or honor
-To hold up and show something in an excited or proud way (i.e. to wave (something) about to attract attention) i.e. brandish, wave, shake, exhibit, show off etc.
-To be in one’s prime
Generally, to flourish means to be strong and healthy or grow well especially when the conditions are right, to sustain continuous steady and strong growth. These are just some of the expressions of what flourish means in the English language. And as you can see, that Flourish is such a rich and powerful word! It’s a dimension of growth in every area of life. My dear reader, these are the things that you need to look out for in your life as you flourish by his grace in Jesus name, amen. I pray that this will be your experience in Jesus name, amen.
