(James 4:3: You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures)

Prayer is one of the most profitable ventures you can ever be involved in as a believer. This is why it’s important for you to know what prayer is really all about; otherwise, you might not be successful in your prayer life. This has been the basis of our discussion for some time and today’s lesson will be focused on the remaining truths about the business of prayer that you need to know:

viii. Prayer is the means by which you give birth to your dreams and visions. What are your dreams or visions? Prayer will help you to deliver whatever you are pregnant with in the womb of your spirit man. This is how powerful prayer is. It will help you to conceive and deliver the promises of God and the dreams of your life. So, when you pray, remember you are either in a conception or delivery mode. (Acts 1:8, 14: 2:1-4). My dearly beloved one, it’s important for you to begin to see prayer as a means of making things happen.

ix. Prayer will change your life forever. This is how powerful the weapon of prayer is. Prayer does not change God but it changes you and things. There is no way you give yourself to prayers and your life won’t change for the better. I am a living testimony to this truth. Prayer is an instrument of change; it will change your life and story as you commit yourself to a lifestyle of prayer (Luke 9:28-29; 2Chronicles 7:14).

x. God takes delight in the prayer of the righteous. Therefore, your prayers are not a waste of time but an investment of time. Your heavenly Father takes pleasure in your prayers. He loves to see you pray and also give you the desires of your heart. So, next time you have an opportunity to pray, rejoice because heaven’s searchlight is on you (Psalm 34:5, 17).

Major points for meditation:

  • Prayer is the place of conception and delivery.
  • Prayer is an instrument of change!
  • Your heavenly Father loves to hear you pray!
