(James 4:3: You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures)

You are welcome back to our discussion on “Understanding Prayer.” It is important for you to know that if you will be successful in the place of prayer, you need to have a better understanding of what prayer is really about. So far, I have shared two of those truths with us. Today by His grace, I will be sharing 2 more truths with you. Without much ado, let’s consider them right away.

iii. To be successful in your prayer life, you need to engage both your spiritual and physical resources. What do I mean by this? I simply mean, you need a combination of the divine and human dimensions to thrive in the place of prayer. By the spiritual, I mean the Holy Spirit and the Word of God for instance and for the physical, your mind etc. These two entities must work together in order for you to be victorious in the place of prayer. You need to submit your will and mind to the Holy Spirit and the Word of God in order to have a flourishing prayer life (Romans 8:26; Colossians 1:29). Successful prayer is therefore both a combination of anointing and skills put together.

iv. You need to break through certain barriers and obstacles in order to be successful in your prayer life. The enemy of your soul is totally against your prayer life and this is why he doesn’t ever want you to grow in your prayer life. The way he does this is by putting barricades, oppositions and hindrances in your path of developing your prayer life. In order to develop your prayer life, you need to courageously break through these barriers and the way you do this is by depending on the help of the Holy Spirit and persevering in the place of prayer (Daniel 10:1-3, 12-13). Are you ready to confront your giants or goliaths? Some of the giants you need to confront may be your flesh, mind, unprofitable relationships etc. As you stand your ground and resist in the name of Jesus, you will come to the place of greater liberty in your prayer life. May today be the beginning of such an encounter for you in Jesus name, amen.

Major Points for Meditation:
Successful prayer is both a combination of anointing and skills put together.
You need to break through certain barriers in the realm of the spirit in order to be successful in your prayer life

Other Scriptural References: (Ephesians 6:12; Acts 6:4; 1Corinthians 9:27; Romans 15:30; Galatians 4:19; Isaiah 66:8).
