Understanding Marriage 5

Heb.13v4: Marriage is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

Pro.4v7: Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom, and in all your getting, get understanding.

My dear reader, it’s imperative for us to get the right kind of wisdom concerning marriage. Hence, the reason for this series of teachings. I believe you are finding the things I have shared so far to be useful and helpful. Today, we will go a step further by looking at greater insights about this wonderful institution called marriage.

Basic truths about marriage:

12. Marriage won’t make you happy but it’s the happiness that you have that will make you happy. This is a fundamental truth about marriage that you need to know because a lot of people think that it’s the marriage that produces happiness but this is obviously not true. Happiness is an inside job; if you are not a happy person, you won’t be happy in your marriage. So stop waiting for your marriage to make you happy instead be a happy person. Always remember that happiness is a choice and not a circumstance. Let God be the source of your happiness and not things or people (Gen.29v31-35).

13. Marriage is worth waiting for. Therefore, do not allow anybody or anything to force you into marriage and whatever is worth waiting for is certainly a good thing. My dear reader, don’t allow tradition, men, or society to coarse you into any marriage under any guise. I want you to remember that the Lord is good to those who wait for him and waiting will never be in vain (Lam.3v26). Wait for your man or woman and wait for the right time.

14. Marriage requires care/attention for it to succeed. Why is this so? Because marriage is like a garden that needs to be tendered and nurtured regularly if it’s going to blossom. Are you ready to take care of your marriage? Are you willing to work your socks? Nothing just succeeds without adequate attention and time. My dear brothers and sisters, give your marriage the kind of attention it deserves in order for it to flourish. I can guarantee you that if you give your marriage the focus and attention it deserves, it will not fail (SOS.1v6).

Dearly beloved ones, it’s time to embrace these truths wholeheartedly. It’s time to see things from God’s perspective. I see transformation on your way as you take these giant steps in Jesus name, amen.

I choose to do your word and not my wishes. I choose to see marriage from your perspective. Therefore, I surrender my home and marriage into your hands.
