Hebrews 13verse4 ‘Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

You are welcome back to our discussion on understanding marriage. It’s important for you to understand what marriage is from the perspective of the originator of marriage. Most of the time, the views of men or the world about marriage are not on the same page as the creator of marriage. So to make the most of your marriage, it’s important for you to know what marriage is all about, as you can only take advantage of what you know. This is why this series of teachings has been coming your way and I trust that you are being blessed and lifted in Jesus name, amen. Like I said in our last lesson, one way you can know what something is; is by knowing what is not. So in order for you to understand the concept of marriage, you need to know what marriage is not. So far, we have examined some concepts today, by his grace, we will go further to look at some other dimensions of what marriage is not. If you are ready, here we go!

What Marriage is not?

4. Marriage is not for boys and girls but for men and women. This simply means that a certain degree of maturity is needed if you will be successfully married. And when we talk of maturity, we look at maturity spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically, financially, professionally, socially, and other areas of life. So how mature are you? Marriage is more than feelings; it also involves the strength of character too. Gen2v24: 1Cor13v11

5. Marriage is not the lottery, but it’s hard work. Success in marriage is not by chance, luck or coincidence, but based on the choices and decisions you make to make your marriage work. If you are the slothful or lazy type, you might not succeed in your marriage. Lk9v62: Pro22v29. So my dear reader, are you ready to work on yourself and your marriage? Marriage is one of the toughest tests you will face because it will test your character, patience, sincerity, humility, words of promise, ability to take responsibility, etc. Your marriage can also be likened to a garden that is well tendered and nurtured. So, my dear reader, marriage is hard work and as you work your marriage, you will see changes for the better in Jesus name, amen.

6. Marriage is not the answer to your problems. The answer to your problems is Jesus. Jn14v6: Pro18v10. This is one of the erroneous ideas that some people have about marriage, which is why people get married for the wrong reasons. This is why some people think that marriage will solve their lust or loneliness issues, but this is far from the truth. The real answer to your problems is Jesus and not marriage. So it’s important for you to look at marriage from the right kind of perspective. When you learn to look to God for your problems, you will get better answers to them than you thought.

So, my dear reader, it’s time for you to have the right kind of understanding concerning marriage. May Jehovah usher you into a new degree of freedom in Jesus name, amen
