Heb.13 v 4: Marriage is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

Pro.4v7: Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom, and in all your getting, get understanding.

Marriage is an honourable institution as we can see in (Heb.13v4). It was ordained and established by God for the benefit of mankind but it’s important for us to understand what marriage is really all about. The essence of this series of teachings is to share with us certain truths about marriage. These truths will enhance your understanding about the concept of marriage which will ultimately put you in a better position of experiencing marital bliss. My dear reader, this understanding is needful as you cannot take full advantage of what you don’t know (Pro.16v22). So, what are these basic truths you need to know about marriage?

Basic truths about marriage:

  1. Marriage is work. Marriage does not work by itself but the people inside the marriage must be willing to make it work. This is a fundamental truth that you need to know, so are you ready to make your Marriage work? Therefore, a successful marriage is based on hard work and not mere wishes and desires! So are you ready to work on yourself and your marriage? The answers you give this question will determine the kind of experience you will have in your marriage (Philp.2v13). Dearly Beloved, I urge you to start working on your Marriage so that you can eat the blessings of a blissful marriage.
  2. Marriage is a school that you don’t graduate from until you die. Yes, marriage is a school and it’s the only school they give you the certificate before graduation. It’s a different kind of school. It’s a school of learning, instruction and wisdom. Are you ready to learn and grow? Are you the teachable or arrogant type? Dear friends, the way to stay happily married is to keep learning. In the school of marriage, you need to be willing to learn, unlearn and relearn. My dear reader, it’s time to profit from the school of marriage. It’s time to start seeing yourself as a learner and student. It’s time to see marriage from the right perspective (2Pet.3v18).
