Deut.8v18: And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

You are welcome back to our discussion on the subject of economic empowerment. I sincerely believe that these series of teachings have been of immense benefit and blessing to your personal life because the subject of economic empowerment is paramount to the heart of the father, as you can see from our text scripture in (Deut.8v18) that God wants you to be financially independent. There’s no doubt about the fact that this is God’s will for you and the principles I have been sharing with you. These principles are the avenues by which God intends to bring you and me into the place of financial freedom. So far, I have shared eight powerful principles with you in this regard, and in our discussion today, I will be sharing with you the key to living a life of economic empowerment. I guess you are ready for this, so I will like us to consider this principle right away without wasting much time.

HOW TO PROSPER ECONOMICALLY

  • Be sensitive to the voice of God. There is a connection between prospering economically and the voice of the Holy Spirit; that is why if you want to prosper financially your ability to hear God is very important.

Romans 8 verse 14 highlights the importance of being led by the Spirit of God and the truth of the matter is that God knows where you ought to go and what you need to do that will empower you to prosper financially.

Isaiah 48 verse 17 emphasizes that he is the Lord God that teaches you to profit, so God is interested in your prosperity. If you really want to prosper, you need to take your ability to hear from God seriously. I have heard about the success stories of many people who attributed their breakthroughs in life to their ability to hear God. In fact, when you look at scriptures, you can see many glaring examples of how the Spirit of God leads us into our pot of blessing. For instance, God spoke explicitly to Isaac during the time of famine (Genesis 26) about what he needed to do exactly for his financial prosperity and breakthrough. When you look again at the life of Jacob when he was serving under his uncle Laban in (Gen.31v11-13). It is very clear that he had an encounter with God that led to his economic empowerment. In fact, God so much blessed him that he became the envy of the sons of Laban, as you can see in (Gen.31v1). So we see a principle at work in the Bible here, the principle of being sensitive to what God is saying if you really want to prosper in life. I once heard Yonggi Cho, the pastor of the largest church in the world, say that the secret of his success is that he prays and listens to what God has to say, and that is a fundamental principle we need to pay attention to if we really want to succeed in life. So my dear reader, to what extent are you listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit? How much of his direction, counsel, and input do you take into consideration? The truth of the matter is that if you really want to prosper financially, the voice of God has a role to play in accomplishing this and what we are saying is that you need to be paying attention to what God has to say. It’s time to be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit; there are many areas of our lives that God wants to get involved in, especially our finances if we allow him. So give him room and place to guide and direct you into your pot of blessing. This is what happened to Peter in his encounter with the Lord Jesus (Luke 5 verse 1-8). He had the most remarkable breakthrough in his life by simply obeying the voice of God. So how does listening to God lead to a life of economic empowerment? I believe we can apply this truth into our lives in the following ways:

  1. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit in your giving. Yes, the Holy Spirit, at times,  gives us specific instructions as to what, where he wants to sow. It’s important for you to obey this leading of God if you really want to prosper financially because there is a connection between financial prosperity and your giving. (Isaiah 32 verse 20 and (Ecclesiastes 11 verse 1,6 explains this. In fact, (Pro.18v16) also establishes the importance of giving if we are going to experience breakthroughs in life.
  2. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit in your ways. Let him lead you and guide you in your ways. The Bible says the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord (Ps.37v23). So make sure your goings and your steps are ordered by him. If He’s the one ordering your steps, you can rest assured that he will lead you to a safe Haven and your expectations will not be cut off.
  3. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit in what you do. God wants to be involved in what you do because what you do will determine to a great extent whether you will prosper or not. This is why God wants to be involved in the things that you do. So it’s time to let him in on your operations and your plans, for his wisdom is superior and better than yours and he knows how to lead you to your pot of blessing.

So, my dear brothers and sisters, it’s time to begin to pay attention to what God has to say to you in your life and operations if you really want to prosper financially. He is still the same God, and what he did for the covenant fathers, he will do the same for us today and even much more provided you are ready to obey him fully all the way and without any reservations. I pray for you today that you will begin to experience the leadership and the directives of the Holy Spirit, which will bring you into a life of dominance economically and financially in the name of Jesus. Never ignore his voice and counsel because it will usher you into a new sphere of life and influence.

Prayer for Today: Heavenly Father, help me to be sensitive to your voice. Help me to develop a listening ear to your leadings and instructions in the name of Jesus.

CONFESSION: I acknowledge the Holy Spirit as my guide and teacher; therefore, I am well guided in life, my operations and everything that has to do with me. His counsel and wisdom is my heritage; therefore I will never be led astray as I obey his leadership and instruction. He leads me in every area of life and I am submissive to his voice; therefore I prosper in all my ways and the things that I do. No more losses for me from henceforth because he’s my guide, he leads me into my pot of blessings and breakthroughs in every area of life. Therefore, I have dominance and influence economically, therefore I will not be put to shame.
