1 Thessalonians 5verse21: ‘Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.’

My dear friends, you need to ask certain questions before you commit yourself to any relationship. Nowadays, many people just enter into a relationship without due diligence and this also accounts for many heartbreaks and disappointments. So this is why this series of teachings is quite relevant. Are you planning to get engaged or married? Then this line of questioning will go a long way in helping you to make the right and best decision. So what are the kinds of questions to ask yourself before Marriage? These questions range from all kinds of angles and let us examine some of them right away.

RIGHT QUESTIONS TO ASK:

1. Am I really ready for marriage? This is a very important question to ask yourself. It is a question that you must not be based on assumptions or presumptions. It is a question that requires you to be brutally honest with yourself. So my dear friends, are you ready spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, financially, materially, professionally, relationally, and socially for marriage? The answers you give these questions will determine if you are ready or not.

2. Have I counted the cost? Yes, there is a cost for everything in life. Nothing goes for nothing! There is a cost to getting married? Are you ready to pay the price? Gen2v24.

3. Why are you getting married? Are you getting married for the right reasons? What are your reasons for planning to get married? Most of the time, some people get married for the wrong reasons, some of which are as follows:

-Desperation

-Everyone is getting married

-Someone to take of you

-Because of what you stand to gain or benefit

-Because you have no choice

-Self-pity

-lust

-Age

-Pressures etc.

My dear friends, under no circumstances should anyone marry because of these aforementioned things! But your motivation for marriage has to be good and positive. Pro21v2.

4. Do you trust this person with all your heart? This is one of the vital questions to ask yourself. If trust is a missing element, then you need to jettison the relationship. Ps12v1. Remember marriage is not a do-and-die effort.

See you tomorrow for the continuation of this series.
