1Cor.4v1-2: Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover, it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.

Welcome back to our discussion on the requirements of service. Yes, there are certain conditions that you need to meet if you are going to be fruitful in your work for God. It is important to know these requirements so as not to labour in vain. It is obvious and clear from (1Cor.4v2) that God wants certain things from you and the good thing about what he wants from you is that it’s something that you can do for God’s commandments are not grievous (1Jn.5v3). So what are these requirements? These requirements are as follows:

  1. Availability. If you cannot be available, then you can’t serve God effectively. This is why God readily uses available people and not able people. Are you available for God’s use? This is one of the most important questions you need to ask yourself if God will use you for His glory. The more available you are, the easier for God to use you and vice versa also. A good example of someone that God used very well was King David because he was readily available. He was available to keep his father’s sheep and also available to be sent by his father to his brothers at the war front. Even when he got to the battlefield, he was available to take on Goliath. My dear reader, it’s time for you to deal with every excuse for not being available for God’s use in your life (2Tim.2v2).
  2. Faithfulness. Faithfulness is the act of being faithful, dependable or reliable or trustworthy. It’s another essential requirement of success, and it’s a much-needed commodity in our days (Ps.12v1). Can you be depended upon to deliver? Can you be trusted? Can you be relied upon to do the work? These are the questions you need to provide answers to if you really want to be used by God. King David once again is a classic example of a faithful worker (1Sam.22v14). So it’s time to work on yourself. It’s time to deal with every excuse for not being faithful.
  3. Commitment. It’s difficult to serve the Lord effectively without being committed. So how committed are you to God and his work? The greater your commitment, the greater your level of service and vice versa also. This is why you need to work on your capacity to be committed. The Great Apostle Paul was committed to the cause of the gospel and several other people in the Bible. My dear reader, being half-hearted will not help you to serve God very well. This is why you need to be willing to go all the way with God. It’s time to be sold out to God and his work. Doing this will take your service to another dimension. May today usher you into this dimension of operations (Lk.2v36-38).
