1Cor.4v1-2: Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover, it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.

There is hardly any vocation or calling that does not have one requirement or the other. In the same vein, also, when one talks about serving God, there are certain requirements that you need to meet in order to be effective in your service to him. This is what the Great Apostle Paul meant in (1Cor.4v2) when he emphasizes that certain things are required of you as a steward of God. Just like you have to meet certain requirements if you want to serve in the Military or Armed Forces (i.e. Navy, Air force, Army, etc.). The same is also true about Kingdom Service. In this series, I will share some of the requirements that you need to serve God better. By the way, what is a requirement?

  • It is a thing that is needed or wanted or a thing that is compulsory or mandatory, i.e. a necessary condition. This is what a requirement means. Why do you need these requirements? This is an important question for us to consider, as God never does His things without reason(s). So why are these requirements essential?

REASONS FOR THESE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Because God has his way of doing things. God has his own standards or condition for doing things and this also covers serving him. Our God is a God of order and purpose and if you wish to successfully serve him, you need to be aware of how he wants to be served (1Cor.14v40).
  2. So that your service can be profitable to God and to yourself. Nobody wants to labour in vain or have nothing to show for his labours. So if your service won’t be in vain, you need to pay attention to how God wants to be served (Gal.2v2).
  3. So as not to be in the dark as to what God really wants from us. This is why you need to be familiar with the ways God really wants to be served. The answer to walking in the dark is illumination or light and glory be to God, the Word of God is the light that God shines into our hearts and minds in order to see what he requires from you (Mic.6v8).

So precious child of God, it’s time for you to be familiar with what God requires of you as per serving him and may today usher you into the newness of serving God.

Prayer for Today: Heavenly Father, thank you for opening my eyes of understanding to the ways you want to be served.

CONFESSION: I receive wisdom and understanding as to how to serve God properly. I will not serve God on my terms only. I do not serve my God anyhow, but according to the way he wants to be served. My heart’s desire is always to fulfill God’s mandate and design concerning serving Him. As I serve him according to his godly requirements, I shall not be put to shame or ridiculed. Glory be to him, for my service shall not be in vain.
