(Psalm 34:4: I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears)

We have been looking at the remedies that are available in God with regard to overcoming our fears. We have looked at some of the solutions that God has to offer. These remedies are effective and reliable. Today, by His grace, we will be looking at another solution to the fear problem. So, what is the antidote to all our fears?

v. Pay attention to all the sources of your fears. Your fears have a source or origin and if you can identify your fears, it will be easier to dislodge it thereof. You can’t dislocate an enemy without identifying him or her first and knowing the root cause(s) or genesis of your fears, will help you in defeating it. My dear reader, nothing just happens! (Proverbs 26:2) Can you identify the source(s) of your fears? Do you know the reasons why you are afraid? The answers you give to these questions will be of great assistance to you in defeating your fears!

So, what are the common sources of our fears today? From my experience in life, I have discovered some common sources of fear and I’ll like to share some of them with us. Hopefully, you may also be able to identify the origin of your fears.

Common Sources of Fear:

a. Our five senses. Fear often comes into our lives via what we see, hear, feel, smell, and taste. You can see examples of this in Luke 1:11-12 and 1 Samuel 17:11).
b. Our experiences. Fear can also come into our lives via what we have been doing or done in life, most especially our negative experiences in life. E.g. (Genesis 3:9-10; Judges 6:11, 13).
c. Our emotions. If you have been hurt or wounded emotionally, there is a tendency to be afraid as a result of insecurity and distrust issues. E.g. (Psalm  42:5, 11).
d. Our knowledge/expertise. It’s possible to be in bondage to fear because of what you know or information that is available to you. This was the problem of the King’s advice in 2Kings 7:2).
e. Men/people. People generally can put you in fear by what they say, do, or their response to you. This is why you need to guard your heart (Nehemiah 6:1-13).
f. Disobedience to God’s instruction or His will for our lives (Genesis  3:10).
g. Our thoughts. You need to pay attention to your thought life so that when the thoughts of fear come, you will be ready to tackle them (Job 4:13-14; Proverbs  23:7).

Precious child of God, it’s time for you to begin to identify the root causes of your fears if you really want to walk in victory over them. As you do this, a new life of dominion and freedom will begin for you.

Thoughts for meditation:
1. To defeat your fears, you need to identify the sources of your fears.

Prayer for Today: Holy Spirit, shine your light on the root causes of my fears and give me the courage to face these truths and challenges in Jesus name, amen.

CONFESSION: I refuse to suffer in silence with regard to my fears. As I identify the root causes of my fears, I gain dominance and control over my fears. I declare that from today, I will not allow my five senses, personal experience in life, my thoughts, and knowledge to bring me into fear. I will not allow men or people, disobedience, and my emotions to make me afraid. I rebel against all their operations and I will walk in the glorious liberty of the sons and daughters of God. Hallelujah.
