Proverbs 26verse2 ‘As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.’

One of the frustrating things about praying is to have nothing to show for your prayers. However, God’s covenant with you and me as per prayer is to give us answers to our prayers because he is a prayer-answering God. Isa45v19. So why are some prayers not answered? This is what I have been sharing with you in this series of teachings and today by his grace, we will be looking at another major reason for unanswered prayers! So if you are ready for this, here we go!

REASONS FOR UNANSWERED PRAYERS:

6. Because of not walking in love.

Walking in love is such a big part of having answers to your prayers. This is why such things as bitterness, malice, resentment, and unforgiveness should be avoided by all means if you want to receive answers to your prayers. Mk11v24-26; Matt6v14-15. Since faith works by love, therefore anything that will affect your faith negatively will also affect your prayer life since your prayer life is connected to your faith. Gal5v6.

My dear friends, as a general rule you need to be quick to forgive. No matter what anybody has done to you, forgive and let go. Don’t hold on to any form of grudge, anger, resentment, or bitterness. Choose to be a forgiver. I know that offenses will come but you need to embrace the concept of forgiveness if you want to experience the joy of answered prayers. The issue of forgiveness is such a big issue that it has hindered several people from experiencing answers to their prayers. But what exactly is forgiveness and what does it entail?

Forgiveness means:

-Refusing to retaliate or hold bitterness against people for the way they have wounded us.

-Surrendering the right to hurt others in response to the way they have hurt us.

-Forgiveness is a unilateral act and not conditional on the person being repentant or even willing to acknowledge what they have done.

-Forgiveness is not saying sin doesn’t matter. It is not approving what the other person has done, minimizing the offense, or denying you have been wronged. But it is acknowledging that the other person has sinned against us. And may never be able to make it right.

-Forgiveness is unconditional and it’s also a powerful principle in securing answers to your prayers.

So my admonition to you today is to embrace the concept of forgiveness. Make it your lifestyle and creed. By every possible means forgive and choose to be a forgiver. Doing this is one of the best decisions you can ever make in your life as it will aid and empower your prayer Life.Col3v13-14

Are you willing to embrace this culture and practice?
