Isaiah 61v1-3: “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to preach the good tidings to the poor, He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound. To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn. To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified”.

It is apparent from (Isaiah 61v1-3) that there are reasons why God anoints us who are His children. This scripture in Isaiah speaks of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour in particular. It tells us some of the reasons He was anointed and as you can see, the anointing is not for showing off but to accomplish some definite works. The same is also true about us today as children of God. There is a purpose for the anointing in our lives. The word “purpose” means the reason something was made or created. It also means the original intention or design for something.

As a believer, you need to understand that the anointing is your heritage. What do I mean by this? I mean the anointing belongs to you i.e. you are a partaker and carrier of the anointing. You are the Lord’s anointed (2Corinthians 1v21; 1 John 2v20). In this context, the word “anointing” means the power, might, or strength of the Lord. It is the divine enablement or energy of God. It can also be referred to as the super ability of God. The anointing is for you, on you, with you, and in you. But why does God anoint you? What are his reasons for anointing you?

Reasons for the anointing?

  1. To accomplish supernatural exploits. This means He has invested His power in you for exploits. Therefore, you are made for signs, wonders, and miracles. Your life is supposed to be full of exploits. In fact, your life should not be an explanation but an exclamation i.e. a source of amazement and wonder to the world (Psalm 71v7). Walking and manifesting exploits should be the order of the day in your business, career, family, finances, and every area of life because this is the purpose of the anointing. The word “exploit” is an interesting word and it means a notable or heroic accomplishment. It also means a bold or daring feat. Thus, you were made to accomplish notable and heroic acts by God. Such was the kind of testimony that Samson had in his time (Judges 14v6, 19). Precious child of God, you were made for more, so don’t settle for little. It’s time for this world to encounter the mighty works of the anointing in your life. Say this out loud, “I am anointed for signs, wonders, and miracles. Glory be to God. I live in the realm of supernatural exploits. This is the order of the day for me.” I encourage you, therefore, to go forth and walk in the consciousness of this grace on you. I see things changing for the better for you from today.
