Acts 1v8: But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

As a child of God, it is clear from our text scripture that you have witnessing power; the power to be his witness is at your disposal. This is part of the baptism experience in the Holy Spirit, and God does not want you and me to be silent witnesses but effective witnesses for him. So it’s time to put his witnessing power that is at work in you to work because his power is not for decoration but for demonstration. What kind of power of witness is at your disposal? You need to realise that you have tremendous power at your disposal and because a lot of people are not aware of these, that is why they are not taking their witnessing life very seriously as a child of God. So without much ado, I would like to share with you today some of the awesome power that is at your disposal as a witness for Jesus.

What your Witness can do?

  1. The power to change lives and destinies. The gospel offers you the power to change people’s lives and stories for the better. This is the kind of power that is at your disposal, and this is why you need to take your witnessing very serious. The gospel is a life-changer because it changes your life and your story for the better. For instance, if you consider what happened to Apostle Paul, he was before a blasphemer, persecutor and injurious person until he encountered the gospel. Saul, the persecutor, now became Saul, the preacher; this is why you and I need to enter and occupy our roles as ambassadors or witnesses of Jesus here on earth. Likewise, the witness of the Samaritan Woman in John chapter 4 brought not only a change to her life but changes to several other people’s lives in that city. This is why you need to maximise the power of your witness (2Cor.5v17).
  2. The power to change someone’s posterity. The gospel gives you a new future and also a new beginning. This is what the power of witnessing makes available because through the preaching of the gospel, one’s life and direction are changed for the better. Before you are encountered the Lord, you were heading to a lost eternity, going to no particular place. We were leaving anyhow or living aimlessly until we experienced the power of the gospel, so through the gospel, someone’s future is redeemed and restored. This is the kind of power that is at your disposal and this is why you need to maximise your witnessing power. God wants to use his power at work in you to turn many from perdition into life and many from darkness into his light, so it’s time to begin to take seriously your witnessing power (Pro.14v12).
  3. The power to save and deliver. This is the kind of power that the gospel brings our way. It is the same power that God wants to manifest through our witnessing. In fact, the gospel is the power of God that saves and delivers, and it is when you engage your witnessing power, this power is activated unto all. So your witnessing has the power to save and deliver Souls. It has the power to redeem men from destruction. It has the power to recover. This is why you need to put it to use. The time to begin to maximise your witnessing power has come. God meant it to be used and not to be kept. It is time for you to be bold and courageous about it so that God can do the things he wants to do through your life. May you never disappoint heaven in the name of Jesus (Rom.1v16; Matt.1v21, 23).

Dearly beloved ones, I hope you can now see why you need to put your witnessing power to work. So many other things in life depend on it, so it’s time to rise up to this challenge. May today mark the beginning of being an effective witness for Jesus.
