Genesis 12 verse 1-4 (NKJV): Now the Lord had said to Abram:”Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
You are welcome back to our discussion on the Power of Obedience. Obedience will do you a lot of good than you think; this is why you need to embrace the concept of obedience. When we obey God, it puts us in a far better position. Take a good look at Father Abraham; his lifestyle of obedience can summarize the testimony of his life. We see this at the beginning of his life of obedience in Genesis 12, verses 1 – 4, and in so many other instances in his latter years. This can also become a reality in your life too if you follow the example of Abraham. I have also been sharing with you how God expects you to obey him for some time now. In today’s lesson, I intend to share more insights on how you ought to obey God. So, without much ado, let’s now examine these key points.
HOW TO OBEY GOD?
10. Specifically.
God wants you to obey him to the very letter. What does this mean? It simply means obeying God precisely. Is God particular about this? I would say yes. If you consider what God told Moses in Numbers 20 verses 8 – 12. God wanted him to speak to the rock and not strike the rock. By not obeying God precisely, he missed out on the Promise land. So, my dear reader, you need to strive to do exactly what God tells you to do because God takes great delight in people that obey him like this.
11. Obey God First.
God should be obeyed first and not second or even last. Why is this so? It’s simply because God ought to be first in your life; when you really consider this, he is not asking for something that is too big. Beloved, who comes first in your life? Is it God or something else? It’s time to begin to put God first in your agenda. You will never come last in his scheme of things when you do this. So let God come first. Acts 5 v 29
12. Wholeheartedly.
This is how God wants you to obey Him. Obeying him with all your heart, not half-heartedly. Obedience that is devoid of grumbling or complaining. At times, we obey God but it’s with disputing or debating; this is certainly not the best way to obey God. Our God deserves better, hence the reason why you need to obey him from your heart and not from your head. When you obey God like this, you cannot but get the best out of what the covenant has to offer you. 2Cor 9 v 7.
Dearly Beloved, there is not one of these dimensions of obedience that we don’t need in our walk with God. I, therefore, challenge you henceforth to make this a major priority in your life. May this become a reality in your life in Jesus name.

Prayer for today: I fully embrace the lifestyle of obedience from this day forward in Jesus name, amen.
CONFESSION: Obeying God is my motto and motivation. I choose to obey God first and not last. I choose to obey God precisely and not anyhow. I choose to obey God with the whole of my heart. So help me God!
