Matt.14v15–21: When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food”. But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat”. And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish”. He said, “Bring them here to me”. Then he commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And he took the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

There are certain mysteries behind the weapon of thanksgiving that you need to understand as a believer if the power of thanksgiving will work for you like it ought to. And this will be the focus of our discussion today. But before we go any further, what is a mystery?  A mystery is a hidden truth or sacred secret. It’s something that is difficult to understand or explain. It is just like the trinity, i.e. the three in one God. Thanksgiving is one of the mysteries of God’s kingdom that you understand in order for it to work for you (Matt.13v11). So what are the mysteries that surround thanksgiving that makes it unique and special? These secrets are as follows:

  1. Thanksgiving is a Miracle. Otherwise, how can you humanly explain how five loaves and two fish could feed over 5000 people. It’s indeed a miracle. This is why the voice of thanksgiving is the voice of miracles. A miracle, by the way, is something that defies logic or human reasoning. It’s something that is beyond human understanding or comprehension. And this is the mystery of the kingdom that will turn you into a high flyer as you begin to engage it profitably. So, the next time you are praising God, know that a miracle is in the offing.
  2. Thanksgiving will turn you into a miracle. Gratitude will turn you into a wonder unto your world. You will become a wonder to yourself and to others around in Jesus name, amen. This was what happened to David, Solomon, Paul the Apostle, and several other people. You, too, will become a partaker of this grace as you productively engage the weapon of gratitude (Ps 71v7).
  3. Thanksgiving will wreak miracles in your life. Then simply means that thanksgiving is a miracle-worker i.e. it works miracles in the life of those that understand the principle. So if you ever want to see miracles in your health, finances, works, business or career etc. you need to engage this weapon actively. Precious child of God, there are miracles waiting for manifestation and fulfilment as you effectively thank him. So it is time to change your mind about thanksgiving. Stop seeing it as a little thing but as a big deal because I see you entering into the harvest of miracle on all sides.
