1Thessalonians 5verse17 ‘Pray without ceasing.’

I trust that you are enjoying this series of teachings on the subject of prayer! Prayer should be part and parcel of our lives as believers, for this is God’s will concerning you as revealed in our text scripture (1Thessa5v17) .Is prayer or praying really important? The answer is an emphatic Yes! With all that Jesus has done for us, do we still need to pray? The answer is once again an emphatic Yes! So why is prayer really important? Why should I put it as a priority? These and many other reasons are what I intend to share with you Beginning from today’s lesson! So if you are ready to go, here we go!
WHY IS PRAYER IMPORTANT?

1. Because it is the acid test of your devotion to God. One of the ways by which we can tell whether someone is devoted to God or not is by their prayer lives. So, my dear reader, this is why prayer is so important. Your prayer life is an indication of your devotion to God! Lk2v36-37. The stronger your prayer life, the stronger your devotion to God and vice versa also!

2. Because the word of God places a lot of priority on prayer. When you study the scriptures, you will see that God places a lot of emphasis on prayer. Infact if you look at the ministry of Jesus Christ while he was here on earth, you will see that the bible speaks a lot more about his prayer and praying more than his teachings. If the word of God places a lot of premium on prayer, then it is to show you the importance of prayer and why you need to take it more seriously. Rom12v12; Col4v2. I pray that the grace to heed to this call will rest mightily on you.

3. Because prayer is a means of communicating with God. Prayer gives you an opportunity of conversing with your maker, so this accounts for why it should be taken seriously. Prayer also helps you to keep the lines of communication open between you and God. Heb4v16.
I hope that you can now see why you can’t afford to joke with your prayer life anymore! I pray that these truths will greatly transform your life for the better in Jesus name amen.
