1Corinthians14verse40 ‘Let all things be done decently and in order’.
I believe that you are being blessed by this series of lessons on acceptable behaviors in marriage. The truth is that you can’t just do things to anyone and expect a different result. Instead, you need to learn how to do things properly. This is what our text scripture (1cor14v40) is all about and to be successful in your marriage, you must also live according to the acceptable rules of engagement. I have shared a lot of these rules with you so far in this series. We will go a step further today by looking at more dimensions of these rules. May your eyes of understanding be opened as we look at these truths today. So here we go!
15. Don’t be afraid to seek help in your marriage if you need it. Going for counseling or therapy is not a sin nor does it mean you are not man enough. The truth of the matter is that the giant stands on the feet of clay. No one knows it all. This is why you need to constantly seek help and answers in areas you lack. So my dear reader, go for counseling. Don’t die in silence or ignorance. Getting help is not a sign of weakness but strength and courage. So get over this fear so that you can take control of your life. Pro11v14. Will you do that today?
16. Dont be disrespectful or rude to your spouse. Respect one another. This is important if your marriage will work. Let the respect be mutual and reciprocal in nature. Honor your partner and hold them in high esteem. Stop speaking to them anyhow and treating them anyhow. 1Pet3v6. Are you willing today to start respecting your partner?
17. Dont be selfish or self-centered. This is one major thing that can wreck any home. So give no room for selfishness. Put your spouse and family first. This is what true love is all about. Stop making the marriage all about you alone. Be considerate in your plans and actions. Remember that marriage is between two people. So say no to every act of selfishness in your desires and actions from today. My dear reader, are you willing to make this kind of sacrifice for your home? Pro31v15,20-21
18. Never stop chasing your spouse. Don’t let the romance fizzle out in marriage. Go on date nights. Plan a vacation together. Make sure that you don’t stop doing the things you used to do, while dating or in courtship. By all possible means, keep on chasing one another. This is an important secret to a lasting and blissful marriage. Pro5v18-20
I believe that you will imbibe these truths today into your marital lives. I see change in the way in Jesus name, amen.
