Gen.39v1-6: Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. And Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the Ishmaelite’s who had taken him down there. The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand. So Joseph found favour in his sight and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had, he put under his authority. So it was from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had in the house and in the field. Thus, he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate. Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.

You are welcome back to our series on the blessings of God’s presence. The presence of the Lord is such an indispensable commodity in our lives. It’s our heritage, and it’s something you cannot do without as a Believer. From our text scripture in Gen. 39 v 1-6, it’s very obvious that the presence of the Lord made a huge difference in the life of Joseph, not minding the fact that he was a slave. In the same vein, dearly beloved, you need to expect God’s presence to make a difference in your life regardless of your position or status in life. So what are the benefits or advantages of having God’s presence? What can the presence of God accomplish in a man’s life? These are the things I will be sharing with you from this lesson onward.

THE PRIVILEGES OF GOD’S PRESENCE:

  1. The Blessings of Divine Assurance or Confidence. Where God’s presence is divine, assurance is guaranteed or assured for you. The presence of God is a confidence booster to you as a child, for it assures you and gives hope that you are never alone. This is one of the undeniable proofs of his presence that you need to know and walk in as a believer. Your heavenly father knows how it will look and feel like to go through this world all by yourself. Hence, the reason why he has given you his presence as a means of comfort and assurance. This was the reason for King David’s confidence (Ps. 118 v 6; 1Sam. 17 v 49). This should also assure your heart, too, knowing fully well that his presence is with you always.
  2. The Blessings of Divine Protection and Preservation. The presence of the Lord guarantees your protection and preservation. This should be a source of joy and relief to you as a Believer because we live in an insecure and troubled world, but blessed be God; his presence is your shield and defense. So God’s presence is your refuge and covering. God does this in so many ways; at times, he protects and preserves you from evil, and at other times, he protects or preserves you while you are inside evil. And at some other times, he protects or delivers you through evil. Whichever way, you just need to know that he is committed to protecting and preserving you, so take solace and comfort in this that God’s presence is there to shield and preserve you from all evil or harm (Ps. 91).
  3. The Blessings of Divine Prosperity. This is clearly evident in the life of Joseph, anywhere he went, he prospered exceedingly because God’s presence guarantees your prosperity and elevation. So excelling and being promoted is not a struggle when his presence is with you. This is also what God’s presence will do in your life as his child. Honestly speaking, you cannot bring down a man or woman that God is with because a man or woman that God is with is destined to succeed (Gen. 39 v 2-6: 21-23). My dear reader, you need to understand from henceforth that prosperity and promotion are your lots because of God’s presence in your life. I can see you prospering and excelling beyond every limitation and barrier in Jesus name, amen.
