(1 Samuel 17:26: “Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, What shall be done for the man that kills this Philistine, and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the Living God?”)

It is apparent from (1 Samuel 17:26) that asking questions can change things and your life forever as it certainly changed the life of David for good. So, what kind of questions are you asking? In our last study, I explained the value of asking questions, but today our emphasis will be on asking the right kind of questions in life. What kind of questions should you be asking?

– Ask questions that will stimulate or challenge your creativity. Our brains love questions but that is if you engage your brains effectively. Research shows that the right side of the brain controls creativity, imagination, intuition and visualization to mention just a few, while the left side of the brain controls analysis, linear facts, thinking in words etc. So, how can you stimulate the right side of your brain? By asking questions that begin with Why, How, What, Where and When. These questions set your creativity in motion and you need to start asking this kind of questions (Genesis 30:30).

Ask questions that will challenge the status quo. By this, I mean customs, traditions, norms and ways that things have been done. Until you begin to question the status quo, your life won’t change much neither will you move forward. So, it’s time to begin to embrace new and better ways of doing things (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Ask questions that will challenge your ignorance, naivety and failure. Ask questions that will make you wiser, smarter and better. Stop justifying your pathetic situation; go for wisdom and insight. What you don’t know, you don’t know and you might likely suffer for it (Hosea 4:6). I, therefore, challenge you to start asking questions that will make you better and wiser in Jesus name, Amen.
