Ephesians 5verse18-20 ‘V18 – And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; V19 – Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; V20 – Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.’

It is clear from our text scripture (Ephesians 5verse18-20) that there are certain benefits associated with living the Spirit-filled life. In fact some of the benefits are enumerated in our foundation scripture and you will get to see what I mean as we progress in these series. God does not only want you to be filled with the Spirit once but he wants you to have a regular infilling of the Spirit. Why is this so? Part of the reasons are what we will be talking about! I am actually talking about the benefits of the Spirit-filled life! In our last lesson, I shared some with us but today, by His grace, we will be looking at some more benefits, so if you are ready, here we go!

4. It enables you to live a joyful life. The Spirit-filled life renews your joy. What do I mean by this? It simply means that the Holy Spirit sustains, promotes and preserves your joy. And my dear reader, you need this experience if you will be successful in navigating through this life. This is what is expressed as speaking to yourself in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs in verse 19 of Ephesians chapter 5.The Spirit-filled life is a joy booster because it edifies and lifts up your spirit man, via songs and melody in your heart to the Lord. Rom14v17; Ps96v1.

5. It enables you to live a life of gratitude to God! At times, people struggle with keeping up with a life of gratitude. The answer to this problem is found in staying regularly filled with the Spirit. The Spirit-filled life enables you to be a better thanks giver. So, if I were you, I would fully embrace this lifestyle because it makes gratitude easier to accomplish. My dear friends, living a spirit-filled life always helps you to remain grateful. Eph5v20; 1Thess5v18. So, it is time to embrace this kind of lifestyle as a believer! Are you willing to do so?

6. Boldness and Courage. This is another important blessing of living the Spirit-filled life. The Spirit-filled life gives you utterance to speak for Christ and even in the situations of life. God wants you and I to always be a living witness for him. He wants you to be his voice and hands! This is why the Holy Spirit himself is not a spirit of fear but of boldness and courage. So the more of Him you have in your life, the more of his courage and boldness you will manifest also. So in essence, God has given you the answer to timidity and cowardice! So it’s time to allow his Spirit to live through you! It’s time to be his true witness. It’s time to manifest your colourful destiny! May this be your testimony and song beginning from this encounter in Jesus name, amen. Acts4v31, 33; 2Tim1v7.
