Gen.31v1-6: Now Jacob heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, “Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s, and from what was our father’s he has acquired all this wealth”. And Jacob saw the countenance of Laban, and indeed it was not favourable toward him as before. Then the Lord said to Jacob, “return to the land of your fathers and to your family, and I will be with you”. So Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field, to his flock, and said to them, “I see your father’s countenance, that it is not favourable toward me as before; but the God of my father has been with me. And you know that with all my might I have served your father.
I sincerely believe that this series of teachings on succeeding at whatever you may be doing has been of a great blessing to you. This is one of the main objectives of this series. It will be a great delight to hear from you as per how this series has been of help to you, so keep me posted. So back to the business of today which is to share with you the 7th Key principle that will be instrumental to your success in whatever vocation you may be involved in. So let’s examine this major principle right away.
KEYS TO SUCCEEDING AT WHAT YOU DO:
- Do whatever you do very well. This is a major principle for succeeding at whatever you do in life. What do I mean by this? I mean become the very best at whatever you do. This will position not only for success but also for relevance in life (Philip.2v20). So how well do you what you are doing? This is a very important question to ponder on if you will ultimately excel at your trade or vocation (Pro.22v29). A good example of someone who did very well was Joseph, whether it was in the house of Potiphar or the Prison it was evident that he was the best because of the manner he did his work (Gen.39v1-6, 21-23). This same is also true of David anywhere he went, he excelled because of the way he did his work (1Sam.20v18: 22v14). So how have you been doing your work? Excellently or Anyhow? It’s time to start paying attention to how you work if you really want to stand out in your Generation. May today mark the beginning of new thing in your life.
So how can Someone do very well what they do? How can your work stand out? Your work will stand out if:
– Become the very best at your field of endeavour. So strive to become the Best. Don’t settle for Average. Go for Gold (Dan.1v20).
– Do your work like no other person. This was the secret of Timothy. This was what made him to stand out among the other workers of Apostle Paul (Philip.2v19-22).
– Give your work your best shot. Make sure you put your heart, mind and even body into your work. In this way, your work will stand out among others.
– Constantly strive for Excellence. Let Excellence become your lifestyle. Make up your mind that you won’t rest on your oars (Dan.6v3).
– Go the extra mile. Make up your mind that you will go a step further than others have done. In this way, you will be laying a strong foundation for your work to stand out.
So what are you waiting for? It’s time to make hay while the sun shines. It’s time for you to start placing emphasis on doing the best work possible in your chosen field of endeavour. I see you excelling at the end of the day. You will not come last in your generation. The covenant of success and prosperity will speak in your favor as you embrace this principle of doing an excellent job in Jesus name, amen.
