Gen.31v1-6: Now Jacob heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, “Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s, and from what was our father’s he has acquired all this wealth”. And Jacob saw the countenance of Laban, and indeed it was not favourable toward him as before. Then the Lord said to Jacob, “return to the land of your fathers and to your family, and I will be with you”. So Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field, to his flock, and said to them, “I see your father’s countenance, that it is not favourable toward me as before; but the God of my father has been with me. And you know that with all my might I have served your father.

You are welcome back to our discourse on succeeding at what you do. God’s plan is for you to excel at whatever you may be doing. This is part and parcel of his covenant for us as his children, so you should not settle for anything lesser than this. If Joseph could excel by God in a strange land, the same grace is still available to you also in this generation. So make up your mind that you would excel in all that is good and desirable.

However, if you will succeed at whatever you do, there are certain key principles that will help you to do this. These are some of the things that I have been sharing with you and today by his Grace, I will like us to look at some other principles. So off we go!

KEYS TO SUCCEEDING AT WHAT YOU DO:

5. Persistence. This is such a major principle of success in life. It’s also called perseverance. Other names for it are as follows: determination, endurance or Staying Power. Persistence is the ability not to give up but to hold on. Persistence can also be defined as stubbornness with a purpose. At times, the difference between successful and unsuccessful people is a lack of persistence. So my dear brothers and sisters, to succeed at whatever you may be doing, you must never ever give up or quit. You must be consistent (Matt.24v13). There is nothing like an overnight success. It takes time to succeed, that’s why:

– You need to keep showing up Every day.
– You need to keep at whatever you are doing every day.
– You need to keep doing whatever you are doing now even if nothing is showing forth now (Eccle.11v4).

If you can do this consistently, you will be on your way to attaining Success. So never quit because if you quit once it can become a habit. So make up your mind that you will never quit on your dreams or vision, no matter the present challenges or struggles Imagine what would have happened if Joseph had given up on his Dreams? But thanks be to God, he kept pushing and persevering. I know that there will be tough days but one thing is sure tough times are not forever. You will outlive the tough times if you persist. So as a general rule, make up from today that you won’t give up on your dreams or yourself!

You need to keep believing in yourself and in your dreams if it’s going to see the light of day! I want you to know that there is more than enough grace to help you persevere. So reach out to the all sufficient Grace of God today!

Let the stories of those who through faith and patience inherit the promise inspire you to keep holding on! I can see you getting there if you faint not (Heb.3v6).

I want you to make this powerful declaration today after me saying “I won’t quit nor will I give up on my dreams or vision”. I am looking forward to hearing your testimony of Triumph and Victory in Jesus name, amen.
