Psalm 33verse1 ‘Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.’

I know rejoicing in the Lord is a common phrase you have heard from Christian circles or even the Word of God, but do you really know what it means? And by looking at our text scripture (Psalm 33verse1), you see again the admonition to rejoice in the Lord. God even expects you as his child to rejoice in him.Ps97v12; Philip4v4. Now if you will really do justice to his counsel, you need to know what it means to rejoice! This is what I will be sharing with e sharing with you in this lesson, so what does it mean to rejoice in the Lord?

1. It means to brighten up or to be cheerfull. It also means to blithe or make gleesome. So, in other words, rejoicing means to cheer up. Therefore, the next time you feel downcast, remember to cheer up. Ps32v11.

2. To jump for joy. Rejoicing in the Lord means to jump for joy or exult. This is the kind of joy that Jesus exhibited when his disciples brought him good news about the devil bowing down to his name. Lk10v21. Hab3v18.
So, my dear reader, if Jesus could jump for joy, why should you not?

3. To shout for joy. This is another important meaning of the Word rejoice. So the next time an opportunity comes to rejoice, you know it’s an opportunity to shout! Are you ready to shout for joy? Ps35v27: 100v1.

4. To spin around (under the influence of any violent emotion). This is another important meaning of the Word rejoice. This is what the Psalmist meant in Psalm 118v24 by rejoicing.

So, my dear brothers and sisters, the next time an opportunity to rejoice in the Lord comes, I believe that you now know what to do. It’s time to dare God. It’s time to put his Word to the test. It’s time to obey his Word like he says in the scriptures. As you do, you will experience the wonders of his praise like never before! So it’s time to put your joy to work.
