Eph.5v16: Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Time is one of the most priceless and precious commodities that God has blessed humanity with, and how you use it really matters. This is why Apostle Paul admonishes us in (Eph.5v16) to redeem our time. The word redeem here means ‘to buy up or to buy all that can be bought, not allowing a suitable moment to pass by unheeded’. Another way of saying this is to make good use of time. A closer look at our text scripture in some other translations drives home the point in a clearer manner:

“Make good use of every opportunity you have, because these are evil days”– God’s Word Translation.

“Making the very most of the time (buying up each opportunity) because the days are evil”– Amplified Version.

“Make the most of every chance you get- These are desperate times”- Message Translation.

So how are you using your time? Are you investing in it or wasting it? The answers you give to these questions will determine where you will be at the end of the day. This is why you need to make the most of the gift of time. Are there any reasons why you need to make good use of your time? The answer is definitely YES. There are a couple of reasons why God wants you to make the best use of your time, and I will like to share some of them with you today.

REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO USE TIME WISELY

  1. Because time is your life. Life is measured in terms of time. So, therefore, as you spend time, you are spending your life also (Ps.39v4). This is why you need to pay close attention to how you spend your time because it reflects how you are using or spending your life.

  2. Because time waits for no man. This is absolutely the truth; time is on the go or moves all the time; it never waits for any man. This is true whether you are conscious of it or not. Time is not a waiter but a worker and because it is ticking away, you need to make good use of it if you want your life to count (Jn.5v17).

  3. Because time lost may never be regained again. This is why you need to make hay while the sun shines. Time is a perishable commodity; hence, the reason why you need to make the moments of your life count. My dear reader, you can’t afford to play catch up with regards to time, so it’s time to make the minutes count (Heb.12v17).

My dearly beloved ones, it’s time to take a closer look at how you have been using your time. As you do this, you will be gaining control of your life and taking hold also of your destiny. So why not start today?
