Pro.26v2: Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, so a curse without cause shall not alight.

Dearly Beloved, it is God’s will for you to receive answers to your prayer. This has always been his heartbeat and desires towards you. So then, why don’t we receive answers to our prayers? This is usually due to several reasons, and this is why this series of teachings are coming your way today. It’s possible for you to overcome the disappointment of unanswered prayers and I pray that your moment of transformation begins from now on. I have shared about four reasons why we often don’t get answers to our prayers and today, by his grace, we shall be looking at two more reasons why unanswered prayers prevail in our lives. So off we go!

THE REASONS FOR UNANSWERED PRAYERS:

  1. Wrong Motives. This is another reason why a lot of prayers go unanswered or unattended to by God (Jam.4v3). So if I may ask you, why do you want what you are praying for? Do you seek to glorify God or yourself? Is your motive pure or otherwise? These are some of the questions you need to ask yourself when you are praying. You need to ensure that your motivation for your request is right; otherwise, you might not get the answers that you seek. For as long as Rachel’s motive was wrong in wanting a child, she never got one until she adjusted her motives (Gen.30v1-2, 22). My dear reader, it’s time to beam the searchlight on your motives if you are serious about getting answers to your prayers. When you do this regularly, you can never go wrong and you will be saving yourself from a lot of stress and disappointments. So always ensure that your motives are right whenever you are praying to the Lord (Pro.16v2; 1Sam.16v7).
  2. Unbelief. An attitude of unbelief is injurious to your prayer life and this is also one reason why some prayers are unanswered. God always wants you to approach him in faith and with expectation whenever you come before his presence. Not believing that God can and will answer your prayers can be an obstacle to your prayers. You need to have faith and confidence in what the Word of God says about your prayers if you really want to get the results that you desire (Heb.11v6). And it doesn’t really cost much to believe God. All it takes is to have that child-like attitude that a child has in his father that he will do exactly what he has promised. My dear reader, it’s time to stop doubting yourself. Stop doubting your prayers. Stop doubting the Word of God. You need to put your faith in what God has said about your prayers if it’s going to work. At times, we even have more faith and confidence in the prayers of others more than our own prayers. This ought not to be so, for God wants you to believe his word concerning your prayers (Matt.21v22). So will you start doing so from today? I encourage you to start putting faith in your prayers. Believe God’s report. Embrace the truth of his word against your fears and doubts. You will prevail if you don’t give up in Jesus name, amen.

Prayer for Today: Precious Holy Spirit, help me to always have faith in my prayers and your word instead of doubting your ability to hear me in Jesus name, amen.

CONFESSION: As I give myself to the secrets that govern answered prayers, my prayer life is getting better and stronger. I am growing and developing in my capacity to pray with results in my prayer life. I do not pray like the heathen or like someone ignorant of his Word. God’s Word is my foundation and source of strength. Therefore, my days of walking in the dark are over. It’s a new day, for the joy of answered prayers is mine.
