PUTTING GOD FIRST 8

Luke 12v16-21: “Then he spoke a parable to them, saying: The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully and he thought within himself, saying, ‘what shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this; I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

We are still discussing the topic of putting God first in our lives and specifically the areas we ought to honour God. I believe you are growing in your capacity to put God first in your life. This is the whole objective of this lesson: for God to truly take His place in our lives. For today’s lesson, I will be sharing with you two more areas in our lives that we need to honour God.

AREAS TO PUT GOD FIRST IN YOUR LIFE:
6. In your challenges. Yes, you need to put God first in your challenges and difficulties. Life is not an easy bed of roses and you will face troubles, trials and battles. So, when trouble comes, who do you call upon first? Is prayer your first response or your last resort? Do you call upon the throne of grace or call upon people? Thank God for people but there is a limit to what anybody can do for you. Only God is unlimited and reliable. This is why you ought to put Him first in all of your challenges. Doing so will enable Him to truly fight your battles for you. Precious child of God, I encourage you today to always put God first in your battles. Let Him be your first point of call. In this way, you are bound to come out victorious at the end of the day. So, allow Jehovah fight your battles (Isaiah42v13; Exodus15v3).

7. In all your ways/ works. Yes, you need to put God first in all your ways or works. By this, I simply mean in all you do, where you go and what you are (Proverbs16v3). The Lord should be the first in all of these things I mentioned earlier and not just some or part of your ways or works. The Lord ought to be first in your transactions, actions, activities and course of your life. This action of yours will truly show that you acknowledge Him first above every other thing or person. When this happens, your life will take on a new dimension and meaning. For you can never lose out as a result of honouring God in your life. So rejoice and be expectant!

Prayer for Today: Heavenly Father, I acknowledge your supremacy in all of my challenges and troubles in life. I acknowledge your supremacy in all my ways and works in Jesus name, amen.

CONFESSION: I declare that Jehovah is Lord over every area of my life including my challenges and troubles. He is Lord in all my ways and works. I give Him the right to tell me where to go, what to do and who to be. Because He is my Lord, all my warfare shall never be in vain for He is Jehovah who fights all my battles. I know that I won’t be defeated because the Lord will never allow me to be put to shame. I rest in the Lord and in His ability to sort things out. I refuse to be moved because he is my peace and comfort; therefore, I am victorious in all my ways and works in Jesus name, amen.
