2Ki.6v25: And there was a great famine in Samaria; and indeed they besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver and one-fourth of a kab of dove droppings for five shekels of silver.

7v1, 16: Then Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord; ‘Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria”. Then the people went out and plundered the tents of the Syrians. So a seah of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the Lord.

You are welcome back to our discussion on how to prosper in a time of crisis. I know that we are living in challenging times but glory be to God, His grace is more than sufficient for you. The same God that enabled Israel to prosper in such a difficult time in Samaria (i.e. 2Ki.6v25), will also make a way for you in this season. Be of good courage, for you will not be put to shame.

Dearly beloved, before I begin to share with you how God wants to prosper you in this season, there are certain truths you need to pay attention to. These truths are fundamental and essential if you will truly prosper in this season.

TRUTHS TO PAY ATTENTION TO:

  1. You must be ready to do things differently. My dear reader, to prosper in a time of crisis will require that you change. What do I mean by change? I mean change your strategies, approach, and ways of doing things. You can’t keep doing things in the same old ways and expect a different result. You need to be ready to change the way you do things. Are you ready to make tough and different decisions like the 4 lepers did (2Ki.7v3, 10)? Just as our world will never remain the same because of the COVID 19 pandemic, you too must change in order to succeed in this season. So get ready to change.
  2. You must be prepared. How prepared are you for this crisis? It’s better to over-prepare than to under-prepare. Before everything else, getting ready is the first step to success and success also comes when opportunities meet with preparation. It’s time to get yourself ready spiritually, emotionally, physically, relationally, financially, professionally et cetera. You need to scale up your preparation on all levels if you will prosper in a time of crisis (2Chro.27v6).
  3. You must be proactive and not passive. If you will prosper in this crisis, you need to be action-oriented and not passive-oriented. A proactive person is someone who takes initiative and is also responsive. It’s time to be proactive with your time, life, resources, talents, treasures et cetera. If the 4 lepers had not been proactive, they would have died in the famine. The only difference between success and failure is the ability to take action. Nothing moves until you move. So, make sure you are doing something productive and meaningful with your time in order to rise above this pandemic (Jam.2v26). May today usher you into a new season of transformation.
