Luke 14verse28-30 ‘For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? V29-Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, V30-saying, this man began to build, and was not able to finish.’

Planning for the new year is not something you can leave to chance or coincidence. It’s something that requires your attention and devotion. It’s something that you need to be intentional and deliberate about. This is why I have been sharing with you some of the essential tools you need to prepare for the new year. My focus in today’s lesson will be on other important keys in planning for the new year. So if you are ready, let’s examine them right now.

3. Write out your aims and objectives for the new year. This is part of how to prepare for a new year. And it’s important as you do this that whatever aims or objectives you might be writing, let it be in line with God’s mandate for the new year. Hab2v2.There is power in writing things down. This is one of the reasons God gave us the Bible and besides, human beings are short of memory. This is why you need to write down somewhere where you can easily access it anytime your aims for the new year because whatever is not written is not binding. So have you written down your goals for the new year?

4. Focus on the things that really matter. In order to maximize your life in the new year, you have to be selective. You can’t avoid being a Jack of all trades and a master of none. 1Cor6v12. So make sure you are not just dissipating your energies anyhow. Focus on the things that really matter. This is what champions and winners do! You must also do this if you want to win big in the new year.
So how can you know the really important things? The following checklist will help you out:
-Things that have to do with your purpose and destiny in life.
-Things that bring you the highest and greatest returns
-Things that bring you the greatest joy and satisfaction
-Things that constitute your strengths (abilities, talents, gifts, skills)
-Things that draw you closer to God. Matt6v33
-Things that have to do with legacy and impact.
These are just some of the areas where you need to concentrate your efforts in the new year. I pray that as you do this, your labors shall not be in vain. Eccle6v9
