Luke 14verse28-30 ‘For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? V29-Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, V30-saying, this man began to build, and was not able to finish.’

You are welcome back to our discussion on planning for the new year! I believe that you are greatly being helped by the truths that I have been sharing with you and today, by His grace, I will be sharing more insights about how to plan for the new year. I hope you are ready for this! So without much ado, let’s examine those things right away.

2. Get wisdom and counsel for the new year. You need the right kind of advice or counsel on how to plan for a new year. And this is an integral part of succeeding in the new year. Pro20v18;24v6. There is no one who is about to embark on a journey that does not need to have the right kind of equipment. In the same vein, as you embark on the journey of a new year, do you need counsel and advice? So, where can you get this counsel? You get this advice from:

-God. Yes! You need God’s counsel for the new year. God obviously has a lot of things to say to you concerning the new year; this is why you need to depend on his counsel. I have also discovered that one of the best ways of gaining counsel in God’s mind is by asking him for directions and counsel. This was one of the secrets of king David in the bible (Ps27v11;86v11;143v18: 1Sam23v2,4;30v8). So my candid advice to you is to allow God to lead you into the new year. Allow him to lead you through the following avenues i.e. your convictions, persuasion, peace, still small voice, conscience, confirmations, visions and dreams, inner witness, his word etc. My dear friends, as you allow God to lead you through either of these avenues, I am sure his counsel won’t elude you in Jesus name, amen. 1Tim4v1

-From men and women. God would also use the counsel of other men to guide you into the new year. 2Sam16v23: Pro13v20. The scriptures are full of examples of this kind of wisdom and advice. And you, too, can benefit from this kind of wisdom in your preparations for the new year. However, in getting counsel from men, you need to be sure that these people are:
-People who have been to where you are trying to go to.
-People who know more than you.
-People who genuinely care about you
-People who can bring out the best in you
-People who have a consistent track record with God.
These are just some of the variables you need to consider in getting counsel from others. I pray that God will lead you to the right kind of counsellor in Jesus name, amen.
