Luke 14verse28-30 ‘For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? V29-Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, V30-saying, this man began to build and was not able to finish.
My dearly beloved, as you can see from our text scripture (Luke14verse28-30), there is a place for planning in the scheme of things if you want to succeed. So have you started making preparations for the new year? Or what kind of plans do you have in place for the new year? These are important questions that you need to ask yourself if you will succeed at your planning for the new year! Before I start sharing with you how to plan for a new year. It’s important for us to know what planning is all about. Planning is from the word (plan) and a plan is a system for achieving an objective or a method of doing something that is worked out in advance. So, in essence, planning is like a layout, list or outline of what you intend to achieve. Other meanings of plan that is worth considering are as follows: strategy, proposal, plot, design, blueprint, scheme or disposition.
So to plan for the new year, you need to consider the following:
1. Review the outgoing year. To review means to analyse, evaluate or investigate. In planning for the new year, you need to take a critical look at the outgoing year. This seems like the right thing to do because if you want to go forward, you need to look at where you are coming from. Lam3v40. So, my dear reader, it’s time to subject this year to some critical analysis. So how can you do this successfully? You can accomplish this by looking at the below variables:
-Look at your success and accomplishments and why you did well.
-Look at what you have done and what you want to do.
-Look at what you have, where you are, and where you want to be.
-Look at your challenges and failures and why you did not do well.
-How would you describe the year?
-Look at each month in retrospective.
-look at your goals and aspirations for the year.
-Look at your journal for the year.
-Look at the activities with which you partnered or with someone you are accountable to.
My dearly beloved ones as you go through these checklists of events, it will help you in accessing how the year went.
So make hay while the sun shines. Start today by analyzing your journey so far this year.
