Our Supreme Task 1

2Corinthinians 5verse18-20 ‘V18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; v19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. V20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.’

The business of winning souls or reconciling men back to God is our supreme task. This is very clear from our text scripture (2Corinthians5v18-20) and what makes it so glaring is the following:
-God has given us the ministry of reconciling men to him. 2Cor5v18
-God has given us the word of reconciling men back to him. 2Cor5v19
-We are his Representatives here on earth for this great and noble assignment. 2Cor5v20
So, whichever way you look at it, we have been equipped by God for this supreme task and as a child of God to what extent are you involved in winning souls? Soul winning is God’s mandate to every believer (Mk16v15). This is why it ought to be our supreme task. I love the word supreme, it means highest in rank or authority. It also means the greatest. So, in a nutshell, the business of winning souls is our major or principal task and it should not be relegated to the background. Am sure you are wondering why winning souls is our supreme task. The answer is not far-fetched as you will see in the following reasons we will consider.

Why Soul Winning is Very Important

1. Because the word of God says so. We are commanded in the scriptures to win souls. I want you to note that it’s a commandment, not a suggestion or advice. If we are truly a child of God, then we will seek to do his will all the time. Dearly beloved, this is one major reason why you need to win souls. Matt28v19

2. Because you were saved to serve. Thank God for your salvation, but God intends to bring in as many people as possible through you. So you were not saved to sit down or warm the pews but you were saved so that you can be an instrument in God’s hand. This is even the pattern that you see in the new testament. For instance, when you look at Apostle Paul’s conversion: Once he got saved, he was busy enlisting others into the kingdom of God. (Acts9v19-20,22,27,29). This is the very same thing that God would expect of you too. So it’s time to get involved in the business of winning souls.

3. Because God has equipped you for this work. It will be unfair on the part of God if he doesn’t provide you with the empowerment and resources that you need for this assignment. In fact ,I am bold to say that he has even equipped us with more than enough resources to do this work. So we really have no excuse at all. This is why you have the Word of God, the Holy Spirit and several other tools at your disposal. Mk16v15,17: Lk12v12

So, my dear brothers and sisters, it’s time to rise up to this challenge. It’s time for us to begin to take our place. May today usher into the beginning of such an encounter in Jesus name, amen.

Prayer for Today: Lord, I repent for not taking the business of winning souls seriously from today in Jesus’s name.

CONFESSION: Winning souls is my supreme task and calling. I renew my commitment to this business from today! Holy Spirit, help me stay true and faithful to this mandate in Jesus’s name.
