2Cor.4v8-9: We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.

Dearly beloved, I have been sharing with you for some time now how to become a better crisis manager, and in our last lesson, I shared the first key in becoming a better crisis manager (which is the need to go through crisis). However, while it’s important to go through crisis to be made, you need to go through it with the right kind of attitude. The kind of attitude you display will determine whether you will profit from your crisis or not. So what kind of attitude are you supposed to have as you go through the crisis of life?

RIGHT ATTITUDE TO POSSESS IN A TIME OF CRISIS:

  1. Be grateful and not grouchy. Choose commendation over criticism or complaining. The likes of Joseph, Daniel, and Paul were not complaining or murmuring in their hour of crisis; instead, they were thankful and grateful. Are you resentful or thankful? Are you blaming God, others, or your situation instead of taking responsibility? I know it’s easier to attack than to appreciate, but I will encourage you to choose the attitude of gratitude over grumbling in your moment of Crisis (Phil.2v14).
  2. Be trustful and not touchy. Crisis time is a time to trust God and not a time of doubting his love, promises, or presence in your life. I know when you are in a crisis, it’s easy to say, “where is God”, but I need you to know that’s when God’s presence is closest to you. You need to learn how to trust God even when it doesn’t make sense or you don’t understand. I have been in this kind of situation before in my life, and I want you to know that you are never alone. Joseph, Daniel, and Paul, to mention a few of the Bible Saints, also felt like this too. But Crisis time is a time to look up to God and not up to men or life circumstances. As you look up, your countenance will be lightened up and your expectation won’t be cut off (Pro.3v5-6).
  3. Be patient and not in a hurry or hasty. Crisis time is a time of waiting on the Lord and I also know from experience that waiting time is not easy but you can’t afford to be hasty in crisis; otherwise, you might lose your reward or inheritance. So put on the attitude of patience and endurance. I guarantee you that your waiting will not be in vain, neither shall you be disappointed (Heb.6v12, 15).
  4. Be willing to learn and not unteachable. Be ready to learn valuable and important lessons from your crisis, for indeed there are many messages in your mess or crisis. There are lessons that God wants you to learn so as to profit maximally from your crisis. What lessons are you learning in crisis? Are you learning anything new, or you are still the same old person? The answers you give will determine whether you will profit out of your crisis or not (Gen.40v14-15, 23).
  5. Be steadfast in your faith and not sluggish. The time of crisis is a time to draw closer to God and not farther from him. It’s a time of reinforcing your commitment to the Lord and not forsaking the Lord (Dan.1v8: 6v10). As you draw closer to God than ever before, you will encounter his grace and help like never before.

My dearly beloved ones, I believe you can right see the importance of having the right kind of attitude in a time of crisis. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to deploy this attitude to work in your life. So go for it!

Prayer for Today: Precious Holy Spirit, I choose to have the right kind of attitude in my moments of Crisis in Jesus name, amen.

CONFESSION: Because attitude determines altitude in life. I choose to have the right kind of attitude in my hour of crisis. Therefore, my attitude is putting me over and never beneath. My attitude will make me the head and not the tail. It’s putting me ahead and not at the back. My attitude in the time of crisis is making me a winner and not a loser. It’s changing my story and status for the better. Glory be to God, for my capacity to become a better crisis manager is being sharpened day by day in Jesus name, amen.
