1Chronicles4v9-10 ‘V9 – And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, because I bare him with sorrow. V10 – And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.’
What does it take to provoke a divine encounter? This is what this lesson is all about and a classic example of someone who experienced a divine encounter is Jabez. He encountered the God of Glory and his life never remained the same again. His story was quite a pathetic one because he was dealing with pain and distress in his life as a result of what his mom went through while delivering him. I don’t know what you may be dealing with in your life that requires a divine visitation but one thing I can guarantee you of is that the same God who turned around the life of Jabez is still very much alive and will give you a memorable encounter on this mountain. So, what exactly does it take to provoke a divine encounter? To provoke a divine encounter in your life:
1. You must be willing to call upon the God of Glory. As you can see from our text scripture (1Chronicles4v10), Jabez called on the God of Israel for help! In the same vein, you need to cry out for God’s help and mercy. Our God is ever faithful and willing to help but most of the time, we are not ready to call. My dear reader, no matter the condition of life, you may be in right now, I urge you to call upon the Lord. Those who cry out for his mercies never get disappointed! I am persuaded that you won’t be put to shame as you call upon him. Matt14v30; Mk10v47-48
2. You must be specific in your request. It’s not just enough to call out for help but you need to also be specific about what you want from the Lord. Whatever is not specific will not be dynamic! So, what exactly do you want the Lord to do for you? What area of your life do you want God to visit? You need to be specific if you really want to encounter God’s help like never before. So be specific! As you can see from the life of Jabez, He was also very specific about what he wanted from the Lord. Mk10v51; Matt21v22.
My dear brothers and sisters, I believe that as you seek God with the whole of your heart and table your request before him, your expectations will not be cut off. I see God visiting you in the area of your need! I see your prayers have been answered in Jesus name, amen.

Prayer for Today: Lord, touch me in the area of my life that I need the most in Jesus name, amen.
CONFESSION: This is my moment of divine encounter! It is my time to experience the God of Glory! I am confident that God will visit me today and my life will never be the same again! Glory be to God!
