John 14:16-18: ““And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that he may abide with you forever, the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him; for He dwells with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you”

You are welcome back to our discussion on the ministry of the Holy Spirit as our Comforter. I trust that you are already relating to the Holy Spirit as our Comforter (John 14:16-18). It’s very clear that Jesus wanted us to have an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit as our Comforter and this is the essence of this study.

If you can recall from our last study, I said the Holy Spirit is someone sent alongside to help us with the exigencies of life. He is our teacher, legal assistant, counsel for defense, and intercessor, so you are never without help.

I want us to look at some other implications of the Holy Spirit as our Comforter:

  • He is another Comforter in the mode or person of Jesus. The Holy Spirit is supposed to be to you whatever Jesus was and is. He is the spirit of Christ. The word “another” in Jn.14:16 in Greek is the word “allos” which means “another of the same kind and quality.” So, you have a comforter in the form and fashion of Jesus Christ (John14:18).
  • He is a divine personality. He is not an “it” but a “Him.” Jesus uses the masculine pronoun “He” to describe Him in the book of John (John14:16-17, 26: 16:8). He is someone you can relate to and with. He has feelings and emotions so He can be hurt. You have someone you can talk to and share your burdens with so, there is no reason to despair or worry.

I believe you can see the great potential and possibilities in the Holy Spirit as your Comforter waiting for your manifestation and enjoyment. I can see you getting more out of the Holy Spirit from today. So, rejoice and go for it.
